Dad took delivery of the AR-15 today. Initially, they brought out the wrong gun and he nearly had a heart attack. I believe that it's this one, but it has a vented foregrip instead of solid. It'll be awhile before we can use it in a 100 yard shooting competition because we'll have to special-order metal front sights.

After an HVAC inspection on a foreclosed home (which is a whole post unto itself), me and Dad stopped at Target. I wanted to acquire ponies, but I couldn't find the reasonably priced ones. They do have the mini Lego sets, though, so I grabbed a few of those. Then we stopped at Dick's Sporting Goods to look at their ammo. I was kind of surprised at how little .223 they carry, but in hunting terms, .223 is for varmints and thus much more niche than .308 that's used for deer. But they still had a giant box of bulk .223 that was even on sale. They also had a choice scope that was also on sale. After some work on Saturday, we should get to get the sights zeroed on Sunday and put some rounds through it. Ought to be fun! We might even play some beeramid. Dad seemed quite amused when I told him about it.

Also, it's funny how accurate Fallout: New Vegas was. Yes, you can use .223 ammo in your 5.56x45 weapon which can often be found in bulk, discount lots. It's even pretty easy to get wooden furniture for your M16-style firearm to make it look like the assault rifle from New Vegas.
