...that the phenomenon of the MILF completely disgusts me.
This is not because I find anything wrong with the sexuality of mothers. Indeed, I think motherhood and pregnancy and the fertile female body in general are wonderful, sexy things that probably deserve to be worshipped outright.
This is different, though, from the women who appear to be falling into the male-constructed MILF category. Every MILF who has been pointed out to me -- including, notably, Pamela Anderson -- has been face-lifted, fake-tanned, made up just two shades shy of a prostitute, and bearing the sort of surgically-enhanced breasts that you just know could never have nursed a child. It's not about embracing the natural female process of aging; it's a kind of fascination with the extent to which women will go to serve men with their bodies. There's a kind of desperation implicit in the figure of the MILF. It's as if we recognize that any so artificially-perfected woman ten years younger would never in a million years waste herself on an average guy, but that the MILF -- distraught by her descent into middle age -- will not only combat the feeling by dressing and acting trashily young; she'll also, men seem to think, willingly indulge younger, less wealthy or attractive men in sexual favors. There also seems to be an assumption that mothers develop some kind of ravenous sexual appetite at this stage. Having borne their wealthy husbands' children, they have essentially fulfilled the responsibilities of the trophy wife; now they can hand the little ones off to an au pair and spend their days racking up ludicrous credit card bills to demonstrate their resentment to their husbands. The husbands, in turn, will have moved on to more nubile delights. Unable to follow suit -- since only the very sultriest Demi Moores of the mothering world can secure a much younger, highly attractive man for long -- the MILF demonstrates her resentment by squandering her expensively-purchased assets on average joes.
At least, that's what the porn flicks and tabloids would like you to think. The emphasis shouldn't really be on the IL in the acronym. "Mom Who Might Just Be Depressed Enough To Fuck Me" captures it better. Or "Mom More Likely to Fuck Me Than Any Younger Woman With Tits That Big." Ugh.
