Winter Landscape, 2007
Mixed Media: Acrylic, Gouache, Collage, Pencil Crayon
This assignment was created by taking a "failed painting" and painting over it using some of the original elements to create a landscape scene. I chose a piece of collage that had a lot of blue acrylic paint on it. I used a lighter shade of blue gouache to lighten up the sky portion at the top and used a dry brush to apply a light layer of white acrylic to paint the snow. You can see the original blue comes out nicely underneath the white. I then added trees and used pieces of the original collage to suggest houses. When everything was dry I used a pink pencil crayon to lightly add some colour near the horizon to suggest the sunrise.
