This is my ode to the departed Liberal leader Stephane Dion. Near the end of his time as leader he was pretty reviled by almost all sides and I could never for the life of me really understand why. He was not a charismatic man and his probable downfall could probably be attributed to his indecisiveness but a lot of the things he had to say showed a lot of promise. I think the Conservatives did a pretty good job of eviscerating his character, hapless though he was. I don't think people gave him a fair chance. We now have a liberal leader in Michael Ignatieff whose strength seems to come from being a lot more like the Conservatives which means that a lot of the principles I thought the Liberal party stood for are now gone. Fare thee well Stephane.
