I have now complied my calendar for the year. I have twelve festivals for Hermes planned, eight that were created by Sannion and Oenochoe, one which is the anniversary of the day I dedicated his shrine (which I hope will one day be a proper temple) on which the shrine will be cleaned and rededicated, and three that are of my own making and if they go well I may share details.
I will not promise that I will observe every single one of these festivals. It is, as you all know by now, difficult for me to add new elements into my routine and to remember to do things on time. It may be inevitable that I will miss a date here and there, especially on my first run. If I do most of them, I will consider it a success.
Whether or not I will add other festivals to the calendar remains to be seen. Depends on what I determine my standing is with the other gods I have an interest in. Hermes is my patron and it seems more important to me right now to focus on him and my relationship with him. I believe I have my answer regarding Artemis (and I'll post about that very soon), we'll see how things go with the rest of the list.
I do want to start doing the Neokoroi Noumenia ritual. I didn't get a chance last night, Daniel came home that day and things were naturally a little crazy. Hopefully next month will be better. I also want to start doing my devotion to Hermes on the fourth day of the lunar month, which will be Monday, and hopefully I'll get an opportunity to do that this time around. (I should mention that, other than the Noumenia and Hermes' fourth day, I plan on using the modern calendar for my other festivals, since all the festivals are modern creations and it will just be easier on me)
I want to get back to work on the essays I wanted to write about Hermes. My cat Rufio peed all over what I had compiled so far, so I have to start over again. Just as well, it wasn't going all that great.
Also need to get back to work on ADF's Dedicant Program. Especially after my successful completion of one of the essay requirements, one of the virtues essays that I was certain I'd have no end of problems with, I should ride this high right into the next assignment. Now that I have some festivals to do, I have rituals I can write about. With any luck, my modern Hermes focused festivals will be all right.
So some progress. And first festival, May 5. :-)
