When did it become okay to be talking on your fucking cell phone at work while you are supposed to be waiting on customers ( Read more... )

dumbasses, abject douche baggery, things that are wrong, things that should not be, stupidity, what the fuck, things that make my brain bleed

I generally cut service people a lot more breaks than other people seem to. I don't mind if they aren't overly cheerful (they're working customer service, they're not happy to be there, I get that), I don't get all bent out of shape if they don't wish me a good day (they don't particularly care what kind of day I have, its cool). I just want people to be reasonably efficient at their jobs (as much as they can help it, I get that some things are not their fault) and reasonably polite so long as I am being so.

Waiting on me while you're chatting away on the phone like I'm interrupting your social life, fuck that. There used to be a line between work time and free time, why is that allowed to disappear?

I've seen the throw money across the counter types, the ones that aren't paying any attention to what the cashier is trying to tell them (and if they get something wrong because of that, who will the customer blame? You, that's who). Even more annoying, the people chatting on the phone here do so at top volume, like we're all really interested in what they are talking about, like they've never heard the term "indoor voice." That bothers me more than anything else. Not even getting into the number of people here with those fucking push to talk phones, so I can hear the other end of the conversation at top volume too!
