Um, wow. I had to go look, just to see what you were referring to, and just skimmed through the whole shrines thread... wow. "Gee, maybe if I ask this question in 10 different ways, I'll somehow get a more precise answer and not have to think or do anything for myself!" I mean, yeah, some of us know what the gods expect from us, but we didn't find out by asking a bunch of strangers on the interwebs, we simply *practiced* the religion for long enough, and put enough into those spiritual relationships, to eventually figure it out.

Every time I think for a second that maybe I'm missing something by not being on the Hellenic forums/lists, every time I wonder if I should still participate in some way, I see something like this, and remember how very much happier and more relaxed I've been since leaving. Sad, but true.

Believe me, I understand what you mean. If I wasn't the owner of this forum, sometimes I'm tempted to just chuck the whole thing. I guess, on the good side, it took these people to make me appreciate David's posts, in a certain light.

Yeah, and there were people losing their patience on that thread that I have never get very upset at much. I'm really not sure how what I said got translated into "You can't ask any questions, none at all! Come back when you have a PhD" Oh, you have no idea how hard I had to bite my fingers to keep back the biting reply at that "I don't want to argue about this anymore." Just die, please, die already. There is being a newb and being fucking brain dead.

He's right, if you're not willing to put in any real work at all, we don't need you here. I just can't argue with it, even if as a mod I probably should say something... but I just can't do it!

That's the problem with moderating a forum - whether you like it or not, the actions of those in charge reflect on the entire forum, so everything said by a moderator is usually taken to extremes, even if another person could say the exact same thing and people would take it in jest or just let it roll off their backs.

It's a balancing act, really.

It looks like Jeremy is taking a hiatus over this. Sad, really. :-( I mean that.

I may be jackshit new to "practice" but I haven't a clue what's going on - as much as I get all the NA emails, I never read them too much any more. It's just a flood. And the flood is impossible to sort gems from less-than-gems.

Least I knew about setting up a shrine is that you have to feel a personal connection to it, and use it to keep mindfulness of the Gods by giving them a personal space in your life. This isn't exactly rocket science; heck, it isn't even science at all -- the Gods are powered by faith moreso.

I'm tempted to figure out where to look, or avoid looking in general.

I'm not even on NA anymore, this stupidity is taking place elsewhere.

And no, its not rocket science: I'm just starting out, limited space and resources, one single all purpose shrine will do, alterations can always come later. But hey, ask, just to make sure, get the same answer from like four people that its fine.

But no, instead its endless clarifications, "Okay, let's say that its Friday and its raining out with a north blowing wind, and a strange man comes to my house because his car broke down and he needs to use my phone to call a tow truck. He's wearing a red sweater and has blue eyes. I had cereal and a bagel for breakfast that morning and Opera re runs are playing on the TV as I let him in, and I can't get this commercial jingle out of my head but I suppose that's okay because its for this fabric softener that I need to remember to pick up anyway... would Hera be offended then if I didn't have an individual shrine for her?"

ARRRRGHHH!!!!!

You are intensely creative with these things by the way.

So, supposing that one train leaves point A at 41 kph, and another train leaves point B at 49 mph, and they're traveling towards each other; is the sky still blue?

I concede that sometimes I place a little over-emphasis on, or read extra meaning into things in my daily life, but where else am I going to read into them, you know?

"Try thinking about Hera, and thinking about what you feel about her not having a shrine. Most likely, your feeling is correct."

Daresay that I wasn't nearly that confident when I started practicing, but logic doesn't always play in on these sort of questions of hither, thither, and ether.
