Philosophical Assbags - Boy have I been snarky lately
Ugh! Just fucking ugh!
This thread started so innocently. But then someone brought up the philosophers, and someone else proclaimed a lack of interest in ancient schools of philosophy.
Then it became a raging shit storm.
My at least half if not predominately Hellenic friends list are probably all nodding your heads right now. Yeah, you've seen this situation before, always a recipe for spectacular disaster.
The guy that started the fight assholed his way into a ten day ban to calm himself down. And we breathed a sigh of relief, oh it was over now, maybe we can get back to some real discussion.
But no, Todd has decided to get on and take the asshat's place in the argument. And his comments are far more arrogant than anything the other, not anywhere near as eloquent man had to say.
*groan*
I'd tell him where to fuck himself with that attitude of his, but somehow I doubt he'd be able to hear little old me shouting up at him from atop his high seat of supreme enlightenment. (though at least I'm sure he'd stand by his arrogance, unlike the other guy that kept insisting he really wasn't trying to be a dick, and in trying to explain that acted like an even bigger dick than before)
Really, why is it so often that those who profess such a profound love of rational Hellenic philosophy and ethics are some of the biggest assbags in this community? The level of arrogance coming out of that corner is palatable.
And you know, even beyond the fact that the ancient philosophical schools just simply don't match the beliefs I already had, that attitude alone would be enough to make me avoid them altogether. Walking around with your fucking noses in the air and talking about how you're so much better and more holy and pious than all the rest of us, you're a real credit to your cause.
ETA: Okay, I broke down and told him off at least a little. The comments that were made during the time that I was writing this post were just far too much to ignore.
