Hermes brings change (among other things)

Nov 15, 2008 23:10

Had a pleasant day out running errands with the girlfriend with Hermes' luck running strong with me.

Walked about two city blocks with a steady trail of change all along the way (yes and I apologize for the horrible joke, I had to :-P). Was going to bring it home to add to the HRF (Hermes Relief Fund, what I jokingly refer to my pile of offered coins I buy candles and incense and simple offering with) but I ended up giving it to a homeless man standing outside the mall at Inner Harbor. Its okay, I got other treats to take home.

We stopped off in a Godiva store, which has been doing this scratch ticket thing where you can win either a few free truffles, buy one get one free box of truffles or a $50 gift card, they hand them out to everyone coming in. Renee and I were both given one, both saying "Sorry, not a winner." I made some joke about getting another "You fail at life" card, which must have amused the woman behind the counter because she decided to give us both another shot (there were a lot of other people coming into the store in the time we were there, nobody was a winner and yet we were the only people given a second chance). My second one was a winner, a buy one get one free card. So Renee and I picked out a small box of truffles each, bought Hermes a candy of his own as a thanks.

Later on that night I won us a free Pepsi, too.

It made for a nice day, the last day we'll have together until Friday.
