Bead store adventures with Hermes

Sep 07, 2008 08:11

Yesterday the local bead store began its huge inventory sale. Though that's not normally I place I enjoy hanging out (I swear they must have some you must be at least this obnoxious to work here clause) Renee and I actually braved the remains of Hurricane Hannah (heavy rain and some winds, not too bad though it made walking kind of ... eh, wet) to ( Read more... )

Hmmm, maybe disregard my other comment about "any decent bead store will have employees..." because it sounds like maybe this isn't that sort of bead store. See, now if you were living here that wouldn't be a problem, since our bead store rocks and the employees are a bunch of cool, tattooed women. (Yes, I'm totally trying to convince you to move here.) Well, every place has its irritating people. Here, there are a lot of hippies, and a lot of very liberal, 'progressive' people that can at times get on one's nerves (even if you agree with their causes, as I do generally). Portland, for me, is a bit too 'hip' - lots of beautiful artsy tattooed people in their 20's and 30's who are just too cool for me, you know? Eugene is a bit more crunchy, and there's a lot of room for characters - you can really be whatever you want, and just go with it. You'll definitely have to adjust to the peace&love crowd, but I find it's worth it, and that it's certainly a lot better than other types.

That is very true. The question is, are they all the annoying people or are there any decent people around (the town I grew up in was pretty much all assholes, then again it was small enough and expensive enough to live there to be ( ... )
