A Happy Hermetic Coincidence

May 29, 2008 00:46

So here is an interesting something I thought I'd post about.

I learned over the weekend that there is now apparently an National Train Day, or at least the very first one took place this year and I presume they intend to do this every year from now on. Celebration of National Train Day includes, among other things, special discounts on train tickets, so if there was some place special you've been wanting to go and can't quite afford it, that might be a good day.

And when is National Train Day, you ask?

May 10. My birthday.

Renee had noticed that tickets were buy one get on free that day but I didn't know why; we kicked around the idea of bumming around DC to celebrate my illustrious birth, but we noticed the offer fairly late and it didn't happen. All well and good of course, pizza and mudslides and smartass with Becca and Phil was great.

So if we're making this a holiday now, I can presume there will be a similar offer next year ...

And what a wonderful thing this is for a Hermetic Wanderer? What more perfect way is there to celebrate the day than to travel some place new and exciting? And now the whole country is being encouraged to celebrate with me.

Hail Hermes! I truly do love these little coincidences. :-)

Plus this gives me an opportunity to show off my new mysterious road to parts unknown traveling icon. Oooh aaah. :-)
