Bizarre TV Editing

So I was just watching some goofy zombie gore comedy on Sci-Fi. Its so funny sometimes to see the way that television will edit the movies that they air, particularly when you're watching things late at night when some standards become more relaxed.

For example, I don't think they edited any of the violence out of this movie, I would not be at all surprised if I rented it and it all went exactly the same. I can't imagine what could've happened in it that they had to take out considering what they left in. Shootings, stabbing, dismemberment, limbs and blood flying everywhere; typical horror comedy fare (they are usually far more disgusting than the serious horror movies; not that this one would make my list, but just saying). During one scene this woman takes a chainsaw and saws off this zombie's head when its attacking her, and it stands up with the chainsaw more than halfway through its neck and jitters around spewing large amounts of blood everywhere. Of course the woman keeps the chainsaw at this point and runs through the house, using it to cut up even more zombies.

But they took all the swearing out of the movie. Not a single "shit," "fuck," "goddamn it," "bitch," "prick," "asshole" to be heard and scar your fragile little minds while you're trying to enjoy your wholesome chainsaw violence.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the chainsaw violence; not me ladies and gentlemen, in fact I think we need more chainsaw violence on television (wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if Leatherface were to rip through the cast of Grey's Anatomy? I might actually suffer through that irritating show to see that :-)). But if you're going to leave something like that in a movie, why do you care about the language at this point? Shouldn't a woman chainsawing her way through a room full of zombies be allowed to scream out a nice loud, "Fuck You!" while she's doing it?

Does this make sense to anyone? :-P

movies, tv, weirdness, horror, stupid people
