Disgusted.

Admittedly, I need to catch up a bit but I just simply cannot believe the end scene from Persuassion (Smallville's last ep). I just. How did that even air? How is anyone supposed to (or I should say, "still") buying this is the "real" Clark Kent? Whom even thought this plotline was a good idea? Part of me isn't even shocked they want an s10 and ( Read more... )

I'm not going to lie, I was amazed and horrified at the imagery and I can't quite believe that people are hailing this heroic without questioning the utter stupidity of the writing and the direction and just the image of the towers crumbling. Like you say, I have no idea how it made it on to the air. No idea at all.

And I'm sorry but there is only so much fanwanking I will do. There is no way in hell that it can be believed that the collapse of two huge buildings in the middle of the City didn't hurt and kill people. Oh, I 'm sure we're supposed to assume that no one was hurt but I would have to stop using my brain in order to believe that.

In my opinion, this is Clark and this is the producers showing him being heroic and proactive and so very cool but unfortunately, I found the scene disgusting and mind boggling. Not even from the charcaters POV but from the productions POV. What the hell were they thinking?

As for Clark himself, I would love to believe that there is something wrong with him, not only for this but because of the way he spoke to Chloe and acted like an ass but I don't think that is what they are showing us :(

First off - icon love!!!!

Secondly, yes same boat. I was shocked they went there. I was shocked they went there and people didn't admit that they went there. I was shocked they went there, people didn't admit it, and instead hailed it as HEROIC.

Hon, you know me. I love meta and I love fanwank. I always thought this show was REALLY GREAT at providing explanations. Was Lex evil, or not? Every step (and I include thought s7) mostly made sense. Now I didn't always agree with him and thought at times he was shady -- BUT I got the logic to a degree. Chloiac was prime for fanwanking given all the canon. I almost think there HAS to be "a twist" here cause it is so blatently wrong.

But I agree - there is no way to believe collapsing TWO TWIN TOWERS didn't hurt people, didn't give people PSTD, didn't scare people, or wouldn't be viewed in KANSAS as an ACT OF TERRORISM. There is no way I can believe an American can watch it and not get hit with the info.

I think it's supposed to feel mixed cause it was Zod's towers and we know they are bad, but TWO WRONGS do not make a right. I fell like Bo Kent needs to get some platitudinous attidue going on here. The road to hell is paved with good intentions! The cows wont' feed themselves!

I think his assiness is exactly what they are showing us as far as him not being himself. There are a lot of things one could throw at this version of Clark Kent in seasons 1-8. A lot of them would be valid. But the one thing I don't think you could say with any canon-back up was the idea that he was a cold, emotionless asshole. Yet, more and more, that is who he is in s9.

I think Tom Welling is and always has been too aware of his character to do a personality shift like that UNLESS it was scripted.

I'm kind of with you, Iliana. I'm afraid this is the story they're telling. Not that I don't really want to be wrong. But in a season of shiny DC-ers swarming in on the show, I think they don't care so much about the message as having a bunch of "cool" things happen to get buzz and secure milking another year out of this show, however much it doesn't jive with the spirit of Superman. If there is no eradiclack or brainwashed reveal and we're really supposed to be just fine with this douche, then this show will just go down, for me, as the absolute worst interpretation of Superman ever. Forget Nois. What they've made of ILL pales in comparison to what they've made of ICK.

Well, frankly, if one wants to go "It's DCitis" then one should look directly at the upcoming spoilers and whom *exactly* is coming back. There is no reason to bring him on UNLESS one is doing a brainwashing reveal.

Though why they would bring that arc to life, I don't know. It is not one of my favs nor do I remember anyone else loving it at the time (talking yes, loving no).

I'm all for Maxwell Lord being somehow behind Thug!Man, but I'm afraid it won't be a reveal to make sense of this season, but one episode of brainwashed, back to normal, set up that he may meet Lord again in Futureville, then schoopy ending scene for the thug and his braindead girlfriend.

I'm not even afraid of it. I'm just going to bank on it in the hopes of being pleasantly surprised by being completely wrong.

I really hope I am wrong, though.

I don't see the point of bringing up Lord now unless it's to do a reset - especially given the following episode title. What they will let him brainwash Clark then run away?

My issue is they allow Clark to be hopped up all year (boring) just so they can get Clark in a seemingly no-win situation for the finale and a cliffhanger.
