Spoilers!
Teaser: Pretty boring standard stuff, repetition that it's time for Clark's training and reiteration that once again EDlo has no proof. Interesting with Kara's ship I thought (all you could see was the door) and I did like that at least here we still see Reeve's Dam; it's not forgotten. Let's hope unlike last year's Dark Thursday, it's not all swept away in 2-3 eps. Kara shows up, knocks EDLo out, and kicks Clark's butt. I'm interested to see how Kara's pov grows over the season as she become acclimated/acquainted to these people.
What I loved the most? Kara pulling a Superman Returns (makes me think Clark leaving without telling Chloe goodbye so far is a nod there too) and in her S-shaped crystal? Memoria!Baby!Clark! I love it when they reuse that stuff!! I really like Laura. A lot.
Credits! Seriously SO MUCH BETTER than last year that I can't get over it. I love the action Clark montage.
Talon; Chloe is looking Belle Reve profiles. Clark comes up with the oddest reason for a spaceship ever. But I do love Tom's delivery of "You hit your head on *a rock.*" So funny. Second week in a row that we've got the "Clark, why can't you fly?!" anvils going on there. Chloe keeps up her naming tradition by getting "Supergirl" down (for those keeping track she's done Superboy, Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, Angel of Vengeance, Bizarro.) I'm sensing a trend. Whomever did the audio dubbing this week was bad, it didn't match up at all (you can tell that especially in the talon scene.)
Jail: My brother thought that Lex should of been in the striped suits like the Supes movie here. :) Lex has a lot more minions this year, which I like. And he seems fairly smart - I think his later claims with Lana are his front.
Clark in the woods - okay this is weird cause who else killed those guys?! We know it's not Kara. Was it the government people after the ship.
Lionel Luthor - does this remind anyone else a bit of Exile when we had the RIP Lex cover? Daily Planet warehouse; I love that they are always coming up with new scenes and it seems obvious to me that Lex now knows Chloe's routine. Lionel cleared Lex? I don't quite get that, unless they changed it so Lionel was helping Lana in which case it makes the spoilers out there for Lana even more twisted. Lex knew that Lana was stealing intell from him (way to go being sneaky Lana & Lionel) and of course after Progeny and Noir, has fixated on whom she would *actually* share it with. Chloe points out that Lex needs help; I honestly think Chloe doesn't know at all (and of course Lex wanted her to make a deal again and she didn't.)
DP: Clark comes in looking for Chloe and then asks if she's alright; I think we're beginning to see a shift in the prior "taken for granted claims" though I think they could show it off more. Then, exposition happens! :)
Kara on the play ground - I liked this scene. Clark runs off with her, and both my brother and I laughed out loud at the super smack down her put on her. I like Kara a lot but the blocking there was hilarious. I loved it. Kara's bracelet is from the house of El (totally Lara's IMO, and I do hope they go the Pre-Crisis route of Kryptonian bracelets = wedding bands.) I did love the bit when she said his name - but it's like Clark, she's looking for baby you, shouldn't that be a sign or a tip off when in combination that she's wearing the signal for your *house*?
DP again - Chloe is reminding the audience where she's been and how far she's come;I get a feeling that we'll have a pretty strict divide here. Star City? I think they are prepping for Ollie's return already. Grant shows up and knows Chloe's life story - yeah that's not weird at all. The Planet has no rivals, especially not tabloids. :) Chloe again brings up standards; "Since when is Truth in Journalism Old Guard?" There it is; Grant doesn't care about proof (she says so! I believe it!) he cares about money ("a story that will SELL PAPERS").
I'm actually looking forward to this a lot; especially as s6 set up that EDLo can't get stories, can't research, really cares about the fame and money aspect of it; and know Chloe has stories, Chloe finds out the truth [and it is funny that Chloe's big DP stories are a bit unusual - taking down Graham "The Chameleon" Garrett from the FBI's most wanted, getting rid of Farmer Moleman and his illegal aliens ring].
The contrast between Grant and Pauline Kahn (whose nod to Jeantte Kahn for DCU editorial fame still cracks me up) couldn't be clearer either. Real reporters work years for that kind of chance, you want another one bring me a story - tall tales don't make it in DP (and Chloe gets in based on truth and fact there) vs. change our way of thinking, bring me the space ship story which will sell papers. Integrity vs. Circulation. It's a classic DP story line and I'm so glad they are going here because it's the perfect opportunity to end up pulling Clark into the DP realm, to make him join a side (and given show history, I think he (and Jimmy) will side with Chloe on truth.)
Chloe is in shock that the DP just imported someone so anti-DP. Just like us.
Farm: Kara and Clark. Kara was Clark's babysitter. I like the idea that they are owning up that House of El is dysfunctional; hopefully this means exploring Jor-El more and pointing out that he's crazy. Zor-El doesn't sound much better with the directives and misleading Kara. I also love that they are taking from some of the newer comics here with the civil war(s). I'm getting kind of a Jax-Or vibe going on as well. I really loved this scene. She's in denial, and Clark is so empathetic. I really like how similar Tom and Laura look too.
Shippy Sue 4.0! The government guy is just...weird. Some are speculating that he's Brainiac and they might be right, he would be able to infiltrate and be so blaze about it all.
DP again: Oh look they transferred Linda Lake's office to Grant. Interesting. I don't know if anyone else noticed it but he drives a Porche and has a Blackberry. EDlo starts off reiterating to the audience (she can write circles around me) Grant is back on his money kick, and says that he breaks stories - it's this bit that made me like 99% sure he's a bad guy "Any way, any how." That is NOT how the DP operates on this show. I really can't wait for the DP to clean house (and who put him in there? Lex? Lionel?) Thing is EDlo is so complicit with him that I'm not sure what the angle is there. All the interviews seem to be pushing the romance angle too. EDlo once again has miraculous military contacts (and yes, you've only got trucks circling - no idea what they are picking up or why; as we leaned with Jimmy last year -- you've got a hunch. You don't have proof.) And cue Grant buttering her up - and what is interesting is that they made the depth of field completely wonky behind Grant and EDlo in both of these shots so you do not see the DP signal behind either of them. So telling. EDlo wants the faaaaame.
Manor: Lex found Lana. Wooo. Excitement.
DP: Kara breaks the elevator. I did like this scene too; "It's Clark remember." And she looks back. Chloe correcting Kara; pretty blatant "whom is on whoms side." Kara doesn't think much about humanity, and Clark stands up for us - and adds another item to his list of Chloe praise. Chloe points out that the Grant is hovering over her and wants something big (which should be a nice set up for next week); seriously something is up. Clark uses his brain and you can see Chloe following where he's going with it which is cute.
Clark and Kara on the roof - but what rooftop? Somewhere in Granville I think. I LOVE this scene. He's a really good mentor, and nice reuse of the lighting from Bizarro. It's really pretty and well done; big smiles, of cuteness!
Silo: EDlo is monologuing just like Roger Nixon. Cracks me up. She's even got the camera like him (and I think that's Chloe's cam from Mortal.) My brother was repeating Roger's lines over this scene even [Oh Roger, baby, you're going to be filthy rich!; EDlo claims that she's "found the holy grail"] even. Which is my cue that I need to take my s1 dvd sets back from him. ...and she's knocked out again. Did Kara *absorb* the explosion? The ship disappeared Brainiac style - and thus Kara can't leave Earth.
Flight: Lex is listening to his set up. I know some people thought he was self-flogging, but I think he was planning personally.
Lana's purple apartment: Lana has a gun. Lex I honestly think is more attracted to her when she's evil. Lex is still the master as he has to point out to her, that if he wanted her dead, she'd already be it. I really think he's setting her up to come back to him after all of this. And Lana? I don't think hates him as much as she claims; there is hate - but at the same time she totally couldn't kill him. He played upon her vanity; and Lana points out the same psychosis line Chloe did. And Laa's gun - wasn't it full of blanks? (Also bring on the hatesex fic plz.)
So Lana will return for Clana to implode because Lana is evvvil. <3
DP: So this is really duplicitous I though, the whole build Chloe up and act like she wasn't interested and turn the article in anyway. (Also why is she dressed like Dick Tracy?) Grant is all over the place, and I loved Chloe's "Excuse me?!" Seriously, he must be a Plant or a minion or something; the show has been super consistent about the DP and it's standards - and doing anything to sell papes isn't one of them. And it's so meta, and so much playing off of what the boards have been saying that I just laugherd my way through the entire scene.
BARN: Okay this? Is a beautiful scene. And uhm Kryptonians are pretty. And cute and sweet. I love them. They are so Brother/Sister and I love it. Not so much mentory (as MM and Clark is) but more family-ish. I did get choked up here too. Oh show. And the smiles! And set up with the crystals - I think they are perhaps going for the Loebian version where Jor-El ended up ending Krypton (due to the Phantom Zone I think) so Zor-El was going to have Kal-El murdered. But Kara (in both versions) got delayed and removed from it.
Washington DC - too bad Martha's gone and can't check in on this guy huh? I'm guessing this guy works for Lex? Or something. The crystal is very blue.
FOS: Training, kind of. And Jor-El claims not to know what's going on, so maybe we really will get he's the Eradicator or something. I like Clark standing up for his his emotions a lot. And warrrning.
Manor: Lex found a new girl. Awh.
Also is it just me or is Chloe wearing a LOT of green?
