One Semester Down...

Woo! Party time! Now I feel I can kind of relax. My museum has a board meeting next Tuesday so things are still a bit hectic..but no more class and papers! Dianna visited last weekend and she was discussing how much she loves the holidays now that she isn't in school. She has been able to relax and focus on family, shopping, and holiday cheer. I want that! I can't wait for next year! As it is, I won't be able to do all the NY holiday things I wanted to do before I left for California. I will have to pick my top choices and try to fit in as much as I can this weekend.

So much has been going on since learning of bar results. Most of it having to do with school or work. But I did get to enjoy Thanksgiving at a friend's house. I went to the USC Alumni bar for the UCLA game..and that progressed into a night that could only be had in NYC. I've seen the treet in Rockefeller Center. And last week, my school took us to Miami for Art Basel. It was amazing. I don't think I would ever go to Miami under other circumstances but I want to make the trek to Art Basel Miami Beach an annual thing. Before this program, I did not consider myself a fan of contemporary art, and I still don't love contemporary art generally but I do appreciate it more and I do LOVE certain pieces. I loved going through the various art fairs and seeing all this new work. I loved lounging at the Raleigh with a mojito and just people watching. And I loved the Cuban food. =D

I did have a chance to see The Golden Compass. With all the grouching about the bad box office, it was completely sold out for evening showings in NYC and the crowds seemed generally happy with it. As for me, I loved it. I acknowledge that it could have been better (if New Line wasn't such a pansy) but I really loved it for what it was and certain moments were just fantastic. My only gripe? I really think they should have kept the ending. The ending is what makes the book so spectacular and different from other fantasy books. Not to mention the book is technically called Northern Lights! How can you not include THE moment! Also, now that the movie is sort of considered a flop, i am worried that the other movies will not be made. I want to see the real ending! Hopefully it gets put on the dvd. Ideally, they will make The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass and let Chris Weitz do whatever the hell he wants. If you want to see some of the cut ending, go here: http://bridgetothestars.net/

In 6 days, I will be on my way to California and my little dude....
