The weather is ridiculously nice here. I am waiting for Fall to begin. Some of the leaves are starting to fall but it still feels like California.
I am settled into my apartment. I have a REAL bed. It is fabulous. I still do not have a desk and my mirror is still leaning against the wall, but I make do. I have gone to the Container Store about four times this past week. I don't kid. And I think I am going back tomorrow for two more things. Then I will be done...for now. Things have been crazy here and I would love to say that it's because I am living it up in NYC but really, about 95% of my time is devoted to school, work, or errands. But I have been able to do some
* I saw The Drowsy Chaperone. My friend and I tried Rent lotto and lost so we had to try for another show. It is a really cute show. I enjoyed myself a lot, but I also caught some of the musical theatre jokes within the show. I do love that it is original and not based on some movie or some other artist's songs. That was refreshing.
* I went to the Broadway Flea Market. I bought a few Rent and Legally Blonde items. To be honest, it took me a while to get into it. There was mass chaos. I didn't stay long, just long enough to get some stuff and confirm that Adam cancelled.
* Chrissy came to visit! I love having visitors! We went to Daniel Reichard's Kegger, Jersey Boys, Hairspray (w/ Lance!), Rent (Adam and Anthony's last, and Transformers on IMAX. All were great in their own ways. ;) Lance was interesting..certainly a different take on the Corny Collins character. The Kegger was fun..I learned about a new drinking game that I never knew existed..hehe. I didn't play..but I watched. JB was great as always. Except there was a major flub by J Bobby - he called Daniel by his real name, rather than his character name. And Rent was fabulous. It truly was. The crowd was awesome. To be honest, before seeing Anthony and Adam in the show, it had been a long time since I had last seen it and I didn't really miss it. There were times Chrissy and I tried lotto and lost, and I was disappointed we lost but things always worked out in the end and I never minded that much. So seeing the show again with the original Mark and Roger has reignited my love for the show and I don't think I ever need to see it again. Never say never, but unless there is another similar circumstance, I doubt I will be seeing Rent again. Everything had come full circle. For the past 10/11 years I have been listening to the cast recording. The people I remember most from the OBC promo are Anthony and Adam. I have very distinct memories from watching all that promo and following the development of the show. My biggest dream at that time was to go to NYC and see the OBC. Now that dream has been partly fulfilled. To me, nothing else can really compare and I think it is fitting for my last show to be a show that had 3 members of the OBC. This probably doesn't make any sense at all but it makes sense inside my mind..hehe. So it was a great ride. I have some amazing memories and don't regret anything..okay that isn't true. I regret not going to Rent 10. So if they ever do something else like that, I am so there. =)
* Eric and I tried out the bar that the USC Alumni club uses for football games. It was really fun! I think I am going to take my dad there when he visits.
* I saw Stephen Colbert in person. A couple of weeks ago, I got tickets to The Colbert Report. It was AMAZING. I love that man. I don't care that I had to wait about 4 hours for the taping to start or that the studio was freezing or that I had to leave school early or that I got home so late that I ate dinner at 10pm. It was one of the coolest things ever. I can't wait to go back! And my friend and I had awesome seats...apparently you can see us in the broadcast super briefly (my dad and Gisele spotted me!). He is just an awesome guy. I don't really have anymore words..hehe. I need to go buy his book. He is going to do a book signing on Wednesday. I really want to go but I know it is going to mad crazy crowded. I am going to have to find out how the bookstore is going to handle it.
* On Thursday, my friend and I went to Cyrano de Bergerac with Jennifer Garner and Kevin Kline. The play is good..some things don't really work as much so I am curious how it will all change. The performances were all really good, I would just change some of the direction. Really, the most important aspect of the evening was meeting Jennifer aka Sydney Bristow. I had planned this whole statement to say to her and when she was in front of me, I went silent. I asked for a picture and did the proper thanks but I couldn't tell her what I have wanted to tell her for the past..well ever since I started watching Alias. I am a little determined to go back another night to get her to sign my Alias dvd cube and tell her my statement. For now, I have my signed Playbill and this picture:
So yes, Stephen Colbert and Jennifer Garner in one week. It is almost too much..hehe. And USC won! Yay! I missed the game since I was work for 8 hours today. I probably could have left early to see the game but it was a blowout and I really need the money. I have been blowing through money since coming here and I wish I could say it was for fun stuff but the vast majority of it has been for apartment and school essentials. At least I am almost done with all that stuff so the bills should become easier. =) I also plan to take it easy for a while. Midterms are coming up and school projects are in full swing - no time for fun! Except my dad is coming next weekend! I am super excited and will take the weekend off from school and work to hang out with him.
