So I just thought I would update about what's been going on lately, and it's been mostly good stuff. I'm actually quite excited about some of the following things:
-I got a 70/100 on my chemistry exam. This is not one of the things that I'm excited about. I have to get an 86.5% on the final now to get an A in the class, and I have to get an A in the class. Looks like there will be a lot of studying in my future.
-I have two papers to write for Monday and Tuesday, respectively. The first is five pages, the second is an eight to ten page research paper. I'm not very excited about either of these things either. On the plus side, my grade in the class with the five page paper is such that I can score a 14/100 on the paper and still make an A in the class. That does make me happy.
-I was released from my meal plan obligation for next semester. Completely. No strings attached. I'm still a little bit in shock from that. (For those of you who don't go to UF, this is a very difficult thing to accomplish.)
-I got a 195/200 on my second Cultural Diversity group project. Yay.
-My Spanish speaking final was really easy. It was speaking with a partner, and my partner and I happened to randomly pick the topic that we had practiced on in class. We basically were able to just say exactly the same thing again, and it was beautiful.
-And the most exciting thing is that I have decided not to apply to be an RA at TiP for Summer 2005. Yes, I know, this does not sound like an exciting thing, except that the reason that I won't be applying is that my Biological Perspectives professor (Dr. Evans, aka DHE, Chair of the Zoology Department at UF) wants me to do research with him. FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS. Including going to a lab in Maine for two months in the summer. I'm going to start working in the lab next semester with a graduate student who is studying immunohistochemistry (no, I don't know what that is, but doesn't it sound cool?) in fish. This is a ridiculously huge opportunity. I keep thinking about it, and I am still just as excited. And the thing is, this just sort of fell into my lap. I got really lucky I guess.
So I guess that's about all that's been going on with me. Classes end on December 8th, and I only have two exams--Chemistry on the 11th, Spanish on the 16th. Yes, that's right, there are four days during which I will be doing absolutely nothing. Oh well. I hope everybody is doing well! I'll see you all in a few weeks. :)
