♥ MY NUMBER ONE ♥ Chapter 14
Chapter Title: We Give In Sometimes
The rain kept on pouring the whole morning complimenting Hikaru's cold and
unsettled mind. Even at his sleep he was facing the choices he still havent made.
He dreamt of the electricity and friction he felt when Kiyo was near.. it's the starve of
his hungry longing of touch and affection while Andrea's poor heart shattered to pieces
and that's when his dream became a nightmare. He cant stand to see Andrea's tears.
He's willing to kill anybody who would make Andy drown in melancholy.. but everything
is cool.. as long as Andrea has no idea about it.. she wont be hurt..that's what he thought
at least.
Sunday mornings are usually beautiful and warm.. and Hikaru used to be captivated
by these mornings cause it makes his mind at ease and care-free.. but this Sunday..
is completely different.. it's like a pair of hard rocks had landed on his shoulders and
he has to lay off the other one.
Andrea had emailed him a million times asking how he's doing and where he is and she
also reminded him with her emails about their dinner with her family tonight. Usually Hikaru
would answer those emails right away but this time.. he didnt.. he was scared to tell her
and confirm that he would go and meet her parents tonight..he's also scared to tell her that he's fine
and everything's alright..when he's really going through hell thinking: Should I give in or not?
When the afternoon strikes,
Hikaru noticed how the hours passed by really fast..and how the time is running it out
for him to settle his desicion. Hikaru had loved Kiyo so long before and the thing that they had in
the past was always haunting him until Andrea came and changed his playful heart to much more
serious circumstances and the fact that Andrea can make him feel happy despite the shortage
of similarities and the large quantity of differences..but the thought of Kiyo still haunts his mind.
Hikaru called Inoo and asked him to join him walk around Shibuya for a while.
The rain had already stopped and he thought that Shibuya can help him keep his dilemna
out of his mind for atleast..a while..
Hikaru and Inoo were now walking on the wet streets, checking some combinis to kill time
and Hikaru's situation is still killing him so he tried to ask Inoo for some advice.
''Inoo.. do you think I should meet Andrea's parents or.. go have some fun with Kiyo tonight?''
he asked tensely. ''Man..I dont know..'' how could a clueless and unexperienced Inoo would
know anyway and the fact that Hikaru is planning to see Kiyo behind Andrea's back is bothering him too''..youre going to meet Andy's parents?'' Inoo stopped and Hikaru took a deep breath.''Yeah..Isnt it so sudden?'' ''You know girls only bring home their boyfriends when theyre really dead
serious with them.'' ''How would you know?'' ''Well I watch Love Dramas..and my former classmatein highschool had experience that girlfriend's parent meeting dinner thing..''
''You watch Love Dramas? How lame..''
''Whatever you just dont understand..'' Inoo rolled his eyes
''How lame & gay..'' Hikaru laughed hysterically ''Shut up''
''So what happened to your classmate when he met the parents?''
''Well ever since then.. they were inseperable..I mean really INSEPERABLE!''
''What do you mean?''
''He said it was scary..cause the parents asked him a lot about himself..his background blah blahand said it was like being interviewed by the cops or something..''
Hikaru stopped and the fear is eating him up and his confidence to meet Andrea's parents have drained down.
''..and he made a vow to be always be there for her and of course even though the spark between the two of them were dying they had to stay together..like forever.. they were like a married couple already and that happened whenwe were only like in 7th grade..I think..'' Inoo continued.
Hikaru felt like he wasnt really ready to commit yet. It's like he was too young to ever be too serious.. but he is serious with Andrea but making a contract with her parents is really hard for him.. since he usually was the kind of guy who plays love like a game. And he was at the peak to give in and ditch Andrea tonight and the invitation to progress the giving in had just called.
''Moshi Moshi?'' ''Hey Devil..'' ''Kiyo?'' ''Yeah..so are you goin to see me tonight..'' Hikaru paused and Inoo who was stillstorytelling had stopped and pulled his attention to the gray skies with the birds flying around. Inoo doesnt reallywanna hear how Hikaru would bite in to Kiyo's invitation. Hikaru was pushed by his fear and he responded..
''Yes.. so were are we going for tonight?'' Hikaru started to talk in his flirtatious voice but as Inoo can hear it..he can tell that Hikaru just want to escape from the responsiblity to commit to Andrea. ''Your Sorority Party huh? That sounds cool..Yeah..I'll pick you up at 7.. at your dorm..okay..bye..'' Hikaru checked his watch and it was already 6 oclock.
''By the way.. Hikaru..I wasnt done with my story yet..'' Hikaru cutted Inoo's sentence by simply patting him in the shoulders
''Can I have a favor..'' Inoo can already read it in his eyes ''I dont..I dont wanna get involve in this'' Inoo tried to declined doing the favor..but Hikaru took his phone and dialled Andrea's number ''Hey Andy..'' ''Hikaru! Ive been waiting for your call all day..how come you never replied to any of my emails?'' ''Ive been busy..because of..'' Hikaru thought of the most random excuses ''..Inoo's dogs.. they were sick and we took them to the vet..'' Inoo was trying to rant on the background how he doesnt want to get involved but Andrea thought that it was Inoo's cries for his sick dogs so she fell for his excuse ''.and Andy..Im really sorry..I cant meet your parents for dinner tonight.. I have to..'' Andrea's heart was already breaking ''..stay and comfort Inoo with his dogs..he really need some company..Im sorry Andy..'' and even though it hurts him too.. he's just so assumed thathe cant ever stand a minute to be interviewed by her parents and be responsible for her.. even though it wasnt really sure
that..THAT would happen..but he still gaved in to his own.. comfort. ''Uhh..I understand..that's too bad.. but Im happy you'll be comforting Inoo.. Inoo deserve your presence more than me and my parents at this point..Take care over there huh.. and dont do stupid things.. I love you Hikaru..'' ''Okay.. '' Hikaru took another deep breath ''I love you too..'' and he hunged up.
''I cant lie Hikaru! This isnt my thing!'' Inoo continue to protest ''I trust you Inoo.. Dont ever tell her..I'm counting on you..''
''IM TELLING YOU I CANT LIE!!'' Hikaru was already walking away and waving goodbye to Inoo.. he jumped to his Maserati and left Inoo standing there screaming that he cant ever lie. ''I TRUST YOU INOO!''
''And the story about my classmate.. he never regretted meeting her parents and..even if it was scary.. he said..IT WAS THE BEST DINNER HE HAD IN HIS LIFE!'' Inoo tried to run and reach him but Hikaru's Maserati was very fast and he didnt really reached him. Inoo was left alone standing on the empty wet street.
Meanwhile,
Andrea who was waiting and looking forward for their supposed to be family dinner with Hikaruhad lost her appetite. Her parents who just came home from touring were also dissapointed because
they werent gonna meet their daughter's first boyfriend..especialy since she was already bragging to them that her boyfriend was the nicest and the most funniest person she ever met. Usually Andreais really happy during family dinners cause it's very rare for them to have a family dinner since her parents always tour and she was always spending dinner all by herself. Family dinners really makes her happy and she wants to share that happiness with Hikaru but too bad it wont be happening..tonight.
''There's always a next time anyway..'' she thought to herself.
''Mom..can I skip dinner tonight?.. I just want to walk around the city for a while..''
''Honey.. you cooked all of these delicacies the whole day? and you were really excited a while ago arent you?''
Andrea walked near to her mom and gaved a hug ''Mom.. Hikaru.. wont be coming for dinner tonight..''
''It's okay..honey.. he might have good reasons..and there's always a next time'' ''I know mom.. there's always a next time..''
Andrea then decided to take a walk outside even if it's very chilly outside . She thought she needs a bit of fresh air for a while.
With thoughts of Hikaru on her mind.. she was also wondering if she was crossing his mind at this point too.She walked a couple blocks now and she passed a newstand and saw pictures of Kiyo on the headlines.
''She's the princess? She's part of the Kumie-bloodline?'' Andrea gasped. ''This isnt how she looks like before..I havent recognized her yesterday at all'' she started to read the headline ''Princess Kiyo Kumie had came back to Japan after being send by the Prince Kumie to America for 1 year.. after her scandalous relationship with a Johnny's & Associates Talent..'' her eyes widened and she dropped the newspaper to the cold ground and covered her hands with her own mouth
but she pulled her courage and continued reading
''Yaotome Hikaru..the two were spotted 2 years ago displaying affection on the streets and were caught with photos and the rumors were all confirmed that they were dating and sources also claim that she had came back for him even though the Kumies doesnt approve of Yaotome and Kitagawa is also against their relationship..the once oh so innocent Princess Kiyo with her conservative clothing and rimmed glasses had already transformed into a japanese version of Paris Hilton''
Andrea was in total shock. How come he never mentioned Kiyo to her. How could he not tell her everything when they promised to. And she also felt stupid for not knowing all these things.. guess she was really naive.
She tried to call him instantly but he's phone was turned off. Suspicious that Andrea was.. she thought of visiting Inoo's residence & confirm that Hikaru is with him. So that she can settle this doubt on her head that he is somewhere else.
Fortunately.. she remembered that Inoo lives a street away.
Just as she was about to cross the street she saw Inoo and his dogs playing outside
his house.. She ran to him and attacked him with questions.
''I thought your dogs were sick?'' but his dogs were cheerful and lively.
Inoo tried to turn his back and walked inside but Andrea grabbed the back
of his shirt and pulled him back. ''Where is Hikaru?''
''I-I.. have no idea..'' Inoo quivered and shaked his head nervously.
''He said he was with you! Where is he?!''
''Im not talking!'' he removed her tight grip and ran inside but she followed him in
''Come back here Inoo! Im not gonna leave until you tell me where he is!''
Andrea was screaming and crying already ''Is he with Kiyo?! Tell me!!!''
The sight of Andrea kills Inoo but he doesnt know what to do.He really cant lie that well.
Andrea was really screaming at his face already, she was mad as hell.
''WHERE IS HE?!!!''
and Inoo had also gaved in.
''He's at a PARTY with Kiyo''
the tears continued to splash on from her eyes.
she can feel her patience being torn apart.
''He..He..lied to me...He ditched me and my parents for a party...''
In a dark and cold night like this.. it's like everything had pierced her tiny heart.
while on the other hand
Hikaru was mislead into the wrong path.
Amused by his fear and escaping reality..
lying to his heart and was blinded by the bright lights
and deafen by the loud music surrounding the room
as Kiyo was dancing with him on the floor.
and out of the blue..
it was still Andrea worrying his mind.
