A question for all you ladies...
Since I'm reading The Feminine Mystique, it occurs to me that I want to discuss this. So, I ask you, in your experience, throughout your life, from childhood to adolescence to adulthood, what has the word feminine meant to you? What did your parents teach that being "feminine" meant? What did you learn in school, and did that meaning change from elementary school to college? What did the media teach you? How have you tried to live up to that "feminine" ideal? How have you tried to rebel against it? For those of you with daughters, what are you teaching your girls? And for those of you with sons, what are you teaching your boys about what it means to be "feminine"?
