You know how sometimes TV shows are just so awful that you have to watch them?
Di Sebalik Malam is one of those shows.
It's on TV3, Wednesday nights at 11pm. It first caught my eye when I was in my brother's room watching the news on TV, and they was one of those show preview ads. It showed Lorong Haji Taib (Malaysia's dodgy Lane of Whores) and a transvestite talking about how awesome it was to be a transvestite. Or something. Hey, it was a transvestite in Lorong Haji Taib, and that was enough to make me vow to watch that show.
So I did watch it with Fariah and Shook, and it was... bizarre. It was hosted by the producer, who had a name but insisted on referring to himself as Juragan Malam, and there was a phone-in section with its own host, Azura Abdul Karim, who is not referred to as Azura Abdul Karim but as Srikandi Malam. There was also some random chick spouting pseudo-poetic garbage, who also had a name but was called Puteri Malam.
The set had lots of scarves and excess fabric draped everywhere and those fake-flame torches. The language used was Malay, but the sort of Malay you learn in secondary school during that painful month where the teacher forces everyone to take turns mendeklamasikan sajak dan pidato.
The stories that night included: "Panty Raiders", "Repentant Transvestites" and "My Wife Was Seduced By A Lesbian".
I was so tempted to call in and say "BEWARE! YOUR PANTIES ARE IN PERIL!" or spew lies about my experiences with Evil Lesbian Bitches™.
Last night's episode was apparently about "Aniaya Cinta" (pretty much can be translated as "Love Hurts Torments"). I didn't watch it because I was at Scoops, but Fariah updated me on the show via text message and now I regret not staying home to watch it because it had REPENTANT MINAH REMPITS, and you know they're repentant because they pakai tudung.
I am so not going to miss next week's show. Maybe if we go to Zack's to catch Heroes again (as we usually do on Wednesday) I can make EVERYONE watch it with me, because that's what friends are for.
