Yup, Paquiao won again! We were all a little nervous the first few rounds, but later on it was evident that Paquiao was teasing the rounds out, playing with Cotto. I was cool with it the first few rounds - I mean, the Hatton fight only lasted two, so it was great to see them fight for longer - but by the ninth round I was thinking, "end it already!" It was so obvious that Cotto wasn't standing a chance, and that Paquiao was just letting him punch him.
And oh my God! Who I thank, by the way, for Paquiao's success. But the hits Paquiao took, especially to the head, they looked so nasty, but it was like they didn't even phase him! I hope it doesn't catch up on him in the future. I don't want to see him drooling on some God forsaken wheelchair.
But damn, I feel for Cotto. Everyone and my mom were saying "poor Cotto!" and "He's just trying to hang on for his pride now, brave soul." Ouch. I hope neither of the boxers suffer permanent brain damage, and I hope Cotto rebounds from this.
So the question is now... can anyone stand up to Paquiao? In pretty much every fight since Marquez, Paquiao has beat all his opponents with ease. At first, with that guy that lasted eight rounds, I thought it was only 'cause his opponent was green. Then with de la Hoya, he was old and dehydrated. But then Hatton and now Cotto... there's only so many excuses that can be made. I just hope Paquiao doesn't get too conceited or overconfident - the physical peak lasts only for so long, and the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Mayweather's next. Paquiao better beat his ass too.
