I think you're both right. Fox News helps persuade a lot of people. But I also think that the hard-core right-wing Christians naturally tend to agree with Bush anyway. They see government as intrusive and so don't really care that he's running it into the ground. They see American Christians as the chosen people so they don't mind if we're bombing the crap out of non-Americans, particularly if they are heathens. They've been lied to for thirty years or more by the leaders in their movement from Falwell to Robertson to Dobson, etc. into fearing and hating gay people ( ... )

Oh, and I'll add that party-line voters are a minority. Most voters are what the pundits call "low-information voters." They don't vote on issues or even by party, but by how good someone sounds to them and whether they like their personality. At most, they might take away a very general message such as "Democrats want to raise taxes" or "Republicans want to take away Social Security." They tune into the election at the end--most of them are still not paying attention to the current election, for example ( ... )

I would whole heartedly agree with 'low info voters' statement. I know my mom can't vote, but she has 'feelings' of who she likes and dislikes. I feel my father is more informed though ( ... )
