Wow LJ has changed!
One more update for old time's sake.
Lincoln and I are still together, and have been together for over 3 years now. Just two days ago, on Dec 12 (12-12-12) we finally married legally. It was a long wait due to his medical issues, namely his pending federal disability status; getting married before it was confirmed would have meant us having to declare my income and thus, absorb the bulk of his medical bills while also losing medicaid coverage. Now it's all in the clear. After a long back and forth, I've decided to take on his last name. I took on my first husbastard's last name and regretted it when that relationship imploded. And then I tried to hang on to it for a while, tryna be all Tina Turner with it, but in the end it only brought me bad memories and bad mojo so I went back to my family name. But the difference between then and now is that I actually know what I'm doing by marrying this dude, know what I'm taking on, and know that he truly loves me and wishes me to share his name. So I will gladly become Mrs. Rose for him. But it will have to wait until after the holidays. I am absolutely drained by the wedding planning, and I want to have at least a long weekend before I start a new temp gig next week.
I swear it was a small wedding.. 6 people were there total. It was right here at the apartment. Just me and Lincoln, The reverend who married us, two of my close friends, and one of his. And I still spent like 1500 bucks! So we will be like sending ppl e-cards for xmas, and that's about it!
In other news, Yes, Karla I did (eventually) get your postcard. It had languished for weeks and weeks at the bottom of a huge stack of mail I had let pile up. Yes, I am still alive and I thank you for remembering that I once existed. I tend to forget this myself.
