Would You Like My Old Job?

Or do you know someone who might?

The Job:  site supervisor of three tiny historic sites (which span the time period of 1809-1971) in southwestern Loudoun County (near Middleburg, VA), about an hour outside of Washington, DC.

The Good:  just shy of full-time (35 hours a week), really good pay for a museum job (PM me if you want the specific hourly wage), health insurance, the sites aren't directly run by a state, county, or city government (meaning that your budget won't get cut within an inch of its life in the immediate future), and I'm told that "site supervisor" looks really good on the resume!

The Bad:  the job requires you to work largely by yourself for a number of months out of the year (December-late April), and even when you do have a staff, it's a part-time miller for the grist mill and a very part-time maintenance guy--so you had better like doing a little bit of everything, and working VERY independently!

I would recommend having a master's degree in history, american studies, or museum studies, and at least a few years of experience in the museum field (preferably at very small sites), because since you're the site supervisor and working largely on your own, you really do need to have a good idea of what you're doing.

If any of you are interested, let me know, and if you know someone who might be interested, feel free to put them in touch with me.

I may not be a huge fan of the job, but I do want the best person possible to be hired to replace me!
