Where The Light Is

If you haven't seen the DVD yet and don't want to spoil it, don't read this. LoL.

I took notes as I watched the DVD and its special features. I figured it would come in handy when I wrote up what I thought of it. So here are my thoughts, as useless as they may be:

Acoustic Set:
- There is a dog throughout the entire DVD that is foreign to me. When did John buy a Yorkie? And why?
- Getting into the actual music…In Your Atmosphere. Best. Version. Ever. The second to last “burn up in your atmosphere”…I truly wanted to just grab him and do dirty things to him. That voice kills me. And the little outro thing was gorgeous.
- Free Fallin’…holy crap! I know the song, I’ve heard it a few times, but this just blew the top right off my head. I mean, it was just over the top awesome. And of course kudos to Mr. Macintosh & DRH for aiding the master.
- The watch case. I laughed really hard when I saw he had a case of watches with him. What a dork.

Trio Set:
- The suits. Lord have mercy he looked smokin’. Kinda wonder why he was only all dressed up for the JM3 set. Maybe he wanted to distinguish the blues from the rest of the show…?
- Nice to see the Trio back at work. Wait ‘Til Tomorrow was fast, but it was fun, and he looked like he was having so much fun during that solo.
- The little head banging session at the end of WDYTIW with John & Steve was funny. More dorkiness.
- Good Love. That intro was HOT.
- Out Of My Mind…I forget how amazing the few lines in this song are. And man, he meant ‘em too. So funny. Killer solo. Guess he decided that guitar needed to be taught a lesson.
- I loved how at the end of Vultures he was so into playing he could only mouth that last “give up.”
- The pap thing was too ironic. I love how he finally realized the guy was following him, then predicted his moves and made up a little song. Classic John.
- Bold As Love fucking killed me. The speech before made the song that much more powerful.
- The “love” speech was nice. And adorable. “You love me, and I love you, we got that down.” Aww.
- Was that Minka Kelly backstage with him? Meh.

Band Set:
- When I saw Dela I automatically got a little miffed at John…
- Nice pan action near the end of Gravity.
- Funny watching him shake the fans hands all backward and stuff.
- “I’m tired of leaving you alone.” Aww, well if you’d stop leaving, we could fix that.
- Not entirely sure why he brought Pino back for the last couple songs.
- Wondering why you couldn’t really hear DRH soloing in Belief…the same for John in Find Another You.

Special Features:
- The Mulholland Drive feature was kinda…pointless…?
- Love how excited he seemed about the SRV strat he got. So cute.
- For some reason I just aww’ed when he told Steve he loved him. Too adorable!
- And of course the photo gallery was freaking amazing. My favorite shot had to be the silhouette of him against the sunset.

I think overall the acoustic and Trio sets were my favorite. I loved the band set, but it wasn’t spectacular. Ok, anything he does, musically, is spectacular, but it just didn’t stand out as much as the other sets. I am glad this came out though. Gives me a little hope that he still knows what he wants and hasn’t lost sight of that.

I do still love you JCM. Despite the stupid shit you do.
