Cool Web page UI

Apr 17, 2007 08:47

In my last blog, I had written about some frustrating things about Ajax and multiple requests for backend server data. That has put me into a mode where I look web pages in a new way. How the layout is put together, what's the technology behind the content, and those things that make a page stand out in my head. I'll put the rest of it in a cut to prevent my geeking from boring you.

I clicked on a link from http://www.digg.com to that took me to http://www.treehugger.com. Everything looked pretty common, three column layout, banner add at the top, links and ads on the sides, main article content in the middle, then something on the right hand side caught my eye. It was a fourth column, empty boxes with light text, simple text stating this was 1 of 11 screens and Click to jump. It was an article jump link, easy to access, didn't take away from the content, and thought that was a great way to use the old HTML jump link. It was an awesome implementation, something that made this page stand out from others.
