Stargate SG-1 bows out

10.20 Unending
this ep gave me more closure than any other "series" finale over the Stargate yrs. season 6 I vaguely remember had any closure at all; season 7 was a 2-parter that was explosive in more ways that one; season 8 was unsatisfactory, if I recall correctly; season 9 was almost no finale at all, but an intro to next season. thus, weighing all those almost-series-enders, Unending comes as a close second right after Lost City Parts 1 & 2.

Teal'c emerges *the* ultimate hero. got me all chocked up.

Sam, the genius scientist with human frailties - it *did* take her 50 yrs to figure their problem out, but she did eventually; and I loved how in all this, she emerged as the sensitive one, learning how to play the chello to stir us emotionally with her music after ..what was it? some 30 yrs? of learining the art.

Cam, the physical guy, venting his frustration into physical training (and excelling in it!) and bursts of cynical anger.

Daniel, the romantic (it was only fitting that he ended up finding love with the most unexpected person, given that the entire Stargate story started with him finding love in a distant universe and ultimately tragically loosing her) and the eternal researcher.

oh, and I liked Landry's botanical garden! reminded me of Sunshine.

I cannot quite make Vala out, though. well maybe, bc we only just met her that I feel her story had miles to go and the end for this character in the Stargate universe came as quickly as the beginning.

oh and how fitting to have Thor in the finale. I especially liked Daniel's answer to Vala's question as to how they differentiate between the Asgard - that it's the voice; given that Michael Shanks gives voice to Thor - sth, I'm ashamed to admit, I didn't recognize for a considerably long period of time.

10x20, stargate sg1
