Interrupted my own writing of another fic to write this because I was inspired by this picture of a sign that Ryeowook made, from this (locked) post. aksdjflks how much do I love what a sweetheart Ryeowook is? So much. ♥

Sappy fic is sappy! Still on hiatus!

How Super Junior spends their free time.

When you're in thirteen-member boy band living a crazy, hectic idol life, you didn't get much free time. What time that wasn't spend in the studio or filming or rehearsing was usually spent trying desperately to catch up on sleep, checking fancafes so the fans wouldn't think you'd abandoned them, or calling home to reassure your mom that, yes, you were absolutely getting enough food and sleep and not in all in danger of exhaustion or fatigue or catching that cold going around.

So you learned to treasure your free time.

Some people, like Heechul, spent that free time online, posting pictures of himself and typing up what he thought were hilarious blog posts commentating on the life of an idol.

Some people, like Siwon, went to the gym, and dragged Yesung and Kibum along. He'd never know that they only agreed because they had hidden competitive streaks in them; Siwon was perfectly happy to believe they joined him because he'd convinced them of the health benefits of staying in shape.

Eunhyuk would watch videos online (PG-13 and under, he always insisted, but never stopped locking his door) or try to compose music. Occasionally, Sungmin could hear notes and chords being picked out on the keyboard in his room, even as Sungmin was strumming out melodies of his own on his guitar.

Kyuhyun would play computer games late into the night, making time he didn't have for it. When he stumbled into make-up the next morning, the noonas would click their tongues disapprovingly at him and swab foundation under his eyes. He'd only smile and shrug at them and tell them to be grateful he wasn't running around with hickeys all the time, like he could have been. They thought it was better not to ask if he were serious, and spent their free time gossiping about who it might be responsible should he ever actually come in with said hickeys.

Kangin spent his free time out drinking with friends and hyungs, and learning all the gossip he could eagerly spill to the next person he met. Eeteuk often went with him, purportedly as damage control, and more often than not ended up in his own near-scandals.

Hankyung actually did useful things during his free time, like talk to the Chinese trainees at SM and encourage them, or call his mom, or practice dance on his own, or run around doing things for Heechul. Shindong wasn't quite sure how the last was actually useful, except maybe in that it kept everyone else from having to cater to Heechul's whims and failing to do it right. Hankyung was the only one who could really manage Heechul when he got in certain moods, so perhaps it was useful after all.

Henry practiced his violin relentlessly during his free time, which no one else did, obviously. But it was soothing to hear and always made whoever listened in feel a mixture of pride at his skill and longing for the own ability to be so intensely wrapped up in music that way.

Then there were Donghae and Zhou Mi, who went around spreading sunshine in their free time, with smiles that wouldn't quit and an overabundance of hugs no one could quite turn down. They could always bring reflexive smiles in return for their words, their touches, but it was something Kibum never minded, even if he didn't always have the time to reply to a cheerful text.

Everyone spent their free time differently, but it was the way Ryeowook spent his free time that day that made Hankyung smile helplessly, and Henry turn red and happy, and made Kyuhyun grin at Zhou Mi, squeezing his hand. Siwon enveloped him in a hug, Donghae picked up the sign and waved it around, and Heechul watched them all with a proprietary smile on his face.

"They're a good group," he told Eeteuk, who only shook his head and smiled, agreeing.

Ryeowook just beamed up at all of them, the sign he had made displayed proudly in Donghae's hands.

SUPER JUNIOR, it read, with all seven of Super Junior M's names integrated into the band name.

Sungmin put it up on the refrigerator later with cute animal magnets, his heart light. Super Junior KRY+T+M+Happy = 1, he thought, remembering a time when it hadn't come so easily for them, and clipped the smiling fish magnet onto the last corner.
