Radiohead amazement and Tangelwood dissapointment

Donatello was always my favorite Ninja Turtle, and I'm not afraid to admit that Leonardo annoyed the shit out of me.

So anyways, yeah, Radiohead. WOW, It has been quite some time since i last popped "Ok Computer" into my Cd player and just listen to it, over and over. All of a sudden i forgot why i was skeptical when i heard people saying that Radiohead is the best candidate for the new Pink Floyd.

I was also listening to "The Tanglewood Numbers" by the Silver Jews today, and for some reason, even though i've heard the album several times before, I'm just now realizing what a sub-par album it is for a group as talented as the Silver Jews. I mean, yeah, it was really an album meant to help David Berman overcome drug addiction after he attempted suicide with crack and xanax, but still... It doesn't hold a candle to "American Water". Sure, Berman's lyrics are still pretty good, but the music that supports Berman's off key voice just kind up lost its touch. Songs with heartbreakingly perfect guitar and synth by the like of Steven Malkmus and Rian Murphy that made just the right connection with songs like "Dallas" and "Night Society" just have no more energy in this album. With perhaps "K-hole" and "Punks in the Beerlight being an exception.
