Phoned Equity (the guild for entertainment industry workers in the UK).
Me: "Hello, I wonder f you can help me. I'm a writer and I'm writing a manuscript at the moment which contains some characters who are actors. I wonder if someone could talk to me about the nitty gritty of acting, e.g catering on set, breaks, the type of crew there are, and the kind of hours involved."
Equity Employee (EE): "This is a paying service, you need to be a member."
Me: I need to join you to talk to someone about acting?
EE: Yes.
Me: But all I want is, a ten minute conversation, maximum, about what acting is like.
EE: I don't see what this has to do with us.
Me: ...... I don't see why you're being so difficult. I'm just trying to conduct some research for my manuscritpt.
EE: This is a paying service, You'll have to try somewhere else. Goodbye.
*sighs deeply*
