where i am as who i am

i've decided to construct a box, a figurative box, into which i will put 5 items, figurative items, i feel represent me. as a reader of this journal this will give you an idea of what it feels like (in some minor part) to inhabit my specific skin, and to think my specific thoughts. hopefully this excerise will alter your opinion on what makes a person, and what does not.

1) a tampon-
this object represents my gender. i didn't get to chose my gender, but everyday it makes decisions for me; like what i wear, how i talk, what i feel, and how people will respond to me. i choose this item as a representation of something i cannot nor ever would change. this fact is nestled inside the very fiber of all i am and all i will come to be.

2) a cross-
this object represents the most important decision that i have ever made. the decision to follow Christ. i choose this symbol that not only represents my place among the father God, but also the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. without whom there is only sin and death.

3) a rope-
each twine in my rope represents someone who's presence has shaped my life in some way. any way. whether the rope is weak or strong is not only dependent on the strength of the material from which it is made, it is also dependent on how well i've woven it.

4) a pencil-
this object represents my potential. alone a pencil isn't much, dull and useless, taking up space. but with the right hand holding it, maintaining it, this pencil is capable of much more than people ever estimated.

5) a picture of you-
you who read my journal. you have shaped my own estimation of my value. whether your comments are positive or negative you are obviously concerned enough with my thoughts to refine them with your own. i am moved. thank you.

post an imaginary box of your own. just name five objects to represent you and why. it'll give everyone else an idea of where you are on your path in life.
