You wake up / your house is on fire.
Only time enough to grab something and leap from your window.

"Your Photographs." That's what people always say,
right? It's what I always said.
But did you know the meaning could burn?
Your shoebox may be tucked safely under the bed,
each photo within is perfectly preserved,
but the sentiment has already turned to ash.
Just a cardboard box of pictures on shiny paper.
Wake up / house is quiet.
Thinking you may still leap from your window.
