I went to work today, for the first time since Friday. Around 1 or so a group of people came in, ranging from 19-25 or so, looking to take some surveys cuz their car had run out of gas.
I surveyed a young girl by the name of Jessica, 19 or so, had just graduated college and came home to get thrown out by her mom and stepdad. We got to talking as she took a survey for a brownie pie, which consisted of tasting four sample slices, all of which she devoured, haha.
I figured she was sincere enough and found no reason to distrust her story, so I lent her some cash and jacked a package of saltine crackers from our kitchen for her to eat. I also recommended her for a job with us, so she got an application and was filling it out when I went on my lunch break. I saw her and decided to take her out to a nicer lunch than whatever the 5 bucks I gave her could buy, so I took 20 bucks out of my account and we ate at the Great Steak and Potato Company. At least she's well fed for one day, and she's got some cash for a little bit. I hope she gets the job, she seems cool and it would be nice knowing that she wasnt living on the streets anymore.
The rest of the day I spent giving surveys to her friends, all of which were homeless as well, and they all seemed to appreciate the food surveys and the money they got for taking them, I wish I had a bit more to lend them, or at least to have been able to take them all to lunch, but oh well. With any luck I can get one of them off the street.
FIN!
