Day 4:

Arrived at the Studio with Levi a few minutes past 6:00 and decided on a quick plan of action:

Step 1 - Finish the last bass track on "S.O.S." just to get it over with and bass out of the way.
About half way through the second take I realize, "My God, the drum recording is completely wrong." Somehow when recording drums we managed to miss an entire chorus section. It's sad to admit, but the easiest wasy to fix it was a ProTools cut and paste job. Not the easiest thing for a musicianm to swallow but a hell of a lot easier than setting up drums and drum mic's all over again and trying to match sounds and whatnot. So after about 20 minutes of computer wizardry, Ballz has me up and running.... the bass was pretty hit and miss, as I rarely play anymore so it took a bunch of takes and a quite a few punch-in's just in time for me to start guitars.

Step 2 - Set up guitars/amps. We move all the bass gear out of the way, and set up the ol' reliable VOX amp. We fiddle with a couple of sounds and mic placements for a few minutes, adjust one of my distortions that sounds terribly grainy and get crackin'. I start with old blue for the most part, for it's super familiar tone.

Step 3 - Start recording guitars. Finally! This is what I've been waiting 18 months to do and it's super fun. I get through about 2 songs almost completely, doing some double tracking and over-dubbing along the way. Do a little bit of experimenting with a couple rythyms and sounds. Near the end we kinda run into some trouble with some tempos and after working on it for about half an hour, we decide to call it quits and give it another go next time with a new approach as it is getting to be almost 11pm.
