Another weekend down, once more unto the breach and all that rot.
This weekend was fairly decent. Friday I went over to Dale and Ravens for Pizza and a movie ("Nightwatch") and hung out there for a bit. Got to see Kat as she and Amy stopped by for a bit.
Saturday was cool. Was down at Hastings Street Ballroom again shooting Ep. 9 for InZer0. They switched my role and instead of Invader "die like a punk" #1 they made me Invader "nameless gun" #3. Had fun shooting even though the bulk of the time was spent waiting watching "Riki-Oh" - probably one of the silliest and bloodiest kung fu films I've ever seen. Once we got on set (outside near one of the train/highway overpasses) we got to be bad-asses shooting and running. Even got a visit from the local police officers who swung down to see what was going on.
The footage we were shooting was a battle between the Wolves and the Invaders. They shot it in segments so we'd watch the Wolves do their bit.. then shoot our response to it, then watch their bit etc.. involved lots of hanging around under underpasses getting cold and then running like we were chasing the Wolves. I was armed with an SMG and a Katana. Kat was looking badass with a combat shotgun. Midway through the shoot, as we were standing there, we realized that we're all the stormtroopers of InZer0. We shoot a lot, but never actually kill anything.
Long story short, I didn't die which means, if they need Invaders again, I have the chance to come back and do some more which would be cool. It's quite fun. Even if I was freezing my tail off. The two episdes I'm in: Ep 8 and 9 will be premiering the first tuesdays of December and January respectively.
Saturday night I went to see Greg's production of 12th Night. Greg was awesome. The play was alright. You could definitely see the skill levels at work between the various actors. Greg's Sir Toby was funny and very well done. On the way to the car we almost had a Patrick Stewart encounter. A young woman lept from her car and approached this older couple .. which seemed odd until I heard him reply "We're very sorry.. we're late for a dinner".... in the inimitable Patrick Steward "Jean-luc Picard" voice. After that I realized who it was but, given how handily he'd shot the yong woman down.. .. I figured it wasn't worth approaching him.
Today I was supposed to be doing pickup shots for "Hush" but the actress who was I was supposed to be shooting with today had to cancel. Apparently yesterday was her birthday and she and some friends went out and got trashed. So, today she was too busy projectile vomiting to shoot the scenes. Sometime this week then. Instead, Jay came over and we practiced a bit. Came up with some really good stuff - wish we could find a drummer and vocalist to round out the lineup! Spent the rest of the day cleaning the house and starting to prep it for winter.
I needed comfort food tonight so I made a really nice dinner and then topped that off with a bottle of Chianti. Had some mental comfort food in the form of watching Shakespeare in Love. Not enough to ward off the silence in the house.. but passed the time rather adequately. Now I'm sitting with a dog curled on each foot - waiting for Monday.... blah...
