Rainy Wednesday.

Quite unexpectedly I have a night off!  I'm enjoying the rain outside except, of course, when I have to let the dogs out and then deal with 2 sopping huskies coming back into the house.

This week has been eventful.

Monday night we did the battle shoot for Bloodgames.  Spent the entire day watching weather.com like a hawk and ended up decided to press forward despite a fairly good chance of rain.  On my drive to Ann Arbor, the rain started falling and I spent a good bit of my time on M14 wondering if I had made a horrible mistake and if I should have called it due to weather and bumped to the rain date.

I'm glad I didn't.  Right around 6pm as we were setting up, the rain stopped and didn't start until just before 11 when we were doing the last shot.  The really heavy rain waited until everyone was well on their way.  The shoot was a blast.  We had approximately 20 fighters and another 20 extras along with several camera operators, the Director and his crew.  Some people played bodies, some played stalking creatures of the night and we ran our short fight sequences and gave the director a lot of material with which to craft his scene.  In a post the next day thanking everyone he stated that "we promised the moon and delivered the sun."  Not a bad review, eh?  I can't wait to see the footage.  All of the fight sequences were custom-created for this shoot and everyone's work rocked!  I spent most of my time keeping everything organized and arranging the fights and corpses so I didn't have any feature fights but I did get to die like a punk establishing the badassitudeness of Kat's character and Margaret and I worked up a quick sequence which we ran in the background later in the evening.  Sometimes I got to kill her, and once I dropped the "General's Sash" she got to kill me several times (Yay Vampire Bites!)  It was quite fun!

Last night I went to my bassist's house and we got some of his baselines recorded for our two newest pieces.  A mid-tempo song called "Lies" for which I've got lyrics pretty much completed and a "swing-metal" style song we're calling "Dancing On Your Grave".  I've got a start for lyrics to that one as well but some of them are a little stalkerish so I'm thinking I'll keep the chorus and rework the verses.  Still, it's a hell of a fun song to play.  I'm hoping we can find a vocalist soon - I'd love to be doing these things live.  We've been quite prolific the last 2 weeks writing material.  We've got 4 new songs in the works.  The drawback is they all require the 7-string so now I need to get a backup for that before we play live.   (Murphy's law states that if I fail to have a backup on site at any gig - a guitar string will break, leaving me unable to play half of our set list.  Of course, if I have the backup, I'll never need to restring again.... c'est la vie.)

Also went to Ann Arbor last night to see Margaret - she leaves for Chicago on Friday.  Margaret- you're going to completely rock at school - I'm guessing you're going to love the experience, but we'll miss the hell out of you here!

Tomorrow will be in A2 again - more on that later.

Friday will be helping out a friend with an art project she's doing - she wants models to pose for photos so she can do some paintings based on Tarot cards.  She's asked me to pose for "The Emperor" so I'm going over to do that and hang out.  Looking forward to that greatly!

Sometime in the next couple of days I also need to get out for a photoshoot for the movie Hush.  The photographer working on it wants to get a shot of me in my costume for the movie poster!  That should be fun - I'll have to get one of those to put on my wall here at home!

Well.. I think I'm going to go flip a coin - either play WoW or play Guitar for awhile.
