Kamikaze training is going well.

The first race is the 15th. Time is closing in. SOOOO.. I hit 27 miles on Sunday on my Trek commuter (read: heavy ass bike).

Yesterday I broke out the Fuji for the first time this year. It is the Triathlon bike that my friend Tim gave me. I put a ton of money into it last summer, well a lot of money for me. But when a bike is worth $1100, I'll drop $300 into parts to get it up to snuff. ANYWAY.. I did a "quick 20" on it. 20 miles in 1hr 10mins. This included falling off the bike.

Yes, I bit it for the first time this year. It was hilarious. I was cruising on a slight decline (was trekking along about 20-22mph) and could see a curve ahead. Little did I know, it was a sharp, 90 degree right turn. I realized a bit too late, and leaned/turned but both tires started squeeling. So grabbing the brakes didn't slow the bike down fast enough and started the dreaded wobble back and forth. Seeing that there wasn't much realestate left, I pulled my shoes out of their toe grips and bailed. Rolling into a bunch of weeds we went. It was probably a 12-15mph wreck. Everything is fine. The bike is a bit out of adjustment, but no harm, no foul. :)

Oh and if you're interested in donating to the cause:

If you want to donate but don't have the funds on short notice, no big deal. I'll be riding again in July!
