Let's talk dental hygiene.

So, here's a sort of personal question for anyone who cares: do you floss? Regularly? How often?

I am willing to go on record saying I have never regularly flossed. I go to the dentist every couple of years or so, they look at my teeth, have an orgasm over how I've never had orthodontic work done, and then tell me they're perfect.....except for flossing.

I've never had a cavity, never had gum disease or needed a root canal. The most dental-intensive time in my life was my wisdom teeth being taken out, and that was pretty humdrum; no dry sockets.

Flossing has always seemed stupid to me. I mean, I brush, what more could I need? I've done it a couple times, and it hurts, and I get blood all over the floss and that's yucky and annoying. Did I mention it hurts?

Since I always had this experience, I've decided recently that, what-the-hell, I'm going to take up flossing. And I've managed to floss once or twice a day for the last, oh, five or so days, maybe a week. It's bleeding a little less but still painful.

Do you guys floss? Does it stop hurting? Is it worth anything?
