Late again, of course. I was in fact aware LJ was back up, but kind of got distracted.
Last week okaa thought she had a sinus infection, until the next day she was in so much pain accompanied by nausea, vertigo, and visual disturbances (which she didn't mention until later), that I ended up driving her to the ER to have her checked out. After waiting literally all afternoon, during which they just gave her saline with anti-nausea and a CT (and the third degree), and found nothing in either the scan or the bloodwork, finally the nurse comes in and starts talking about moving her over to the main hospital.
"Oh, you're admitting her?"
"Yeah, didn't the doctor tell you?"
"No, he hasn't been back here at all!"
Then oyaji showed up, wanting to know why we weren't home yet.
Anyway, so he and I ran out for dinner, and then I got a few things together for him to take over to her for the night.
She was released the next afternoon (after an MRI), with the diagnosis of dehydration. Which is odd, since she was drinking plenty of water at the time, and after reading up on a few things we're fairly certain that her symptoms best fit a migraine. Including the fact that she's had tenderness and other minor symptoms in the days following. Go figure.
On a related topic, I didn't know it was a standard ER question to ask whether anyone was "threatening" an elderly patient at home. Or to send someone in later to ask about their home situation and whether they need help obtaining handrails or a walker or anything else. I guess it's nice to know they're thorough...
We had a real lightning storm the night they kept her for observation too, and I managed to get a few photos that I'll upload soon.
In random news, it's kind of wild what Kilauea has been doing:
