It's been about three years now since me and Ruki started dating. He really grew on me since that first night he confessed. I still want to be there for him and I love him very much but...someone else has really been getting in the way of my feelings for Ruki...
"Aki! Have you seen black cardigan? I have no idea where I last had it."
"Ruki, we're gonna be late. You're always losing your clothes. You're just as bad as your brother!"
"I'm not the one who left his wallet at the cafe and had to drive back and get it. I'd rather lose clothes than important things like a wa- wait, clothes are important! I guess you're right." my boyfrined said, patting me on the back and throwing clothes out of my closet.
"Did you check the clean laundry basket? I asked, considering that's usually where his "missing" clothes end up.
"Yes, and I'll have you know that's the first place I checked."
"Well we can't keep everyone waiting because you lost your stupid sweater-"
"It's a cardigan!"
"Cardigan, sweater, same difference! Look, it's not even that cool out this evening, just go without it."
"That's easy for you to say, you have no fashion sense. You walk around in your baggy jeans and varsity jackets looking some some kind of gangster."
"Ugh whatever! Let's just do, Diva."
"Ducky is the Diva!"
"Fine whatever. Here," I walked over to the pile of clothes Ruki made on my floor and threw my black leather jacket at him. "Wear this. It may not be your cardigan, but it should keep you warm."
"Aw, thank you Aki!" he kissed my cheek and put it on over his pink v-neck. "It's perfect! But I have to put my contacts in before we go."
"Come on Ruki! Are you kidding me?"
"No, it'll just take a minute!" he ran across the hall into the bathroom and came back in less that 30seconds. "Okay, I'm ready to go!"
"Good!" we ran down the stairs and to the door. I grabbed my car keys and we both kissed mom goodbye.
"Bye mom, bye dad. Love you!" we both said, slipping our shoes on and rushing out the door.
"Wait! Where are you boys going?" dad asked.
"Dinner and a movie." Ruki replied.
"Okay, just stay out of trouble!"
"I'll keep an eye on them Suzuki san." we turned around to see Miyoko standing with Aoi. "We all will." she continued.
"Good, I trust you Miyoko. It's my own two that are so block headed."
"I'm not a block head!" Ruki whined.
"Oh yeah, you're the whiner." dad said smiling and walking into the house.
"Okay, we're all ready to go." Miyoko said.
"Everyone? You know how long it takes Ducky to get ready." Ruki said.
"You're on to talk." I mummbled.
"Yes, I called Etsu and she said they're on their way to Nao's."
"Alright, great. Everyone in the car." We all piled into me and Ruki's 2003 Chevy, which he decided to name Daffodil because of the yellow color. We drove over to Naoshi's. Uruha and Etsu just pulled up. We all walked up to the door and, as always, Ruki knocked.
Nao and Hiroto stepped out and greeted us. "Okay, who's riding with us?" Hiroto asked. Ruki looked at me with puppy eyes and pouty lips.
"Fine, but I'm still driving our car." I said.
"Thank you Aki!" he hugged me and ran over to Hiroto's cherry red Civic.  Kohara and Kai pulled up and got out of the car. They ran over to us.
"Sorry we're late, Kohara was doing his hair." Kai said, rolling his eyes.
"Well I didn't want to look ugly because of messy hair. And we made it, didn't we?"
"I guess..." Kai replied.
"You barely made it." Nao said with a smile. "Who are you guys riding with?"
"Etsu and Ducky." Kohara said.
"Before we go, does everyone have their cell phones?" Hiroto asked.
"Hai, sensei Ogata." we all said jokingly.
"I hate when you guys do that. I haven't been your teacher in two years, you're making me feel old." he responded.
"You are old." Aoi said. Hiroto chased him around the yard. He ran pretty fast for someone with so short. "OKAY! I'M SORRY! I GIVE UP!" Aoi screamed between breaths. The two walked back, huffing and leaning on each other for support.
Me, Aoi, and Miyoko got in my car. We followed Hiroto's car and Duck followed my car.For dinner, we didn't go somewhere fancy. Just a little family owned place. Ruki didn't even sit with me. He wanted to sit with Hiroto and Nao. He was always up under those two. I didn't realize I was staring until Uruha tapped my arm.
"Hey, are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"You sure don't look fine." Aoi commented.
"I'm fine."
"You sure? Because you were basically stabbing your boyfriend with your eyes." Kai said.
"I'm fine. Drop it or I'm going to sit with the girls."
"Kohara isn't a girl." Kai defended his boyfriend.
"Well, you know how we all say he's one of the girls." Aoi stated.
"Yea, just don't call him a girl." Kai said.
We went on eating, I didn't say much. I just watched what Ruki was doing. He was having a good time with Nao and Hiroto. Ruki kept wiping Hiroto's face. For a teacher, he sure looked and acted like a student...in preschool. I finished my food and left my share of the bill on the table.
"I'm going to wait in the car." I announced. I left, ignoring their questions. I had seen enough of my boyfriend pampering and having fun with someone else. Especially his ex who I know he never really got over. It's obvious. And I admit I'm jealous. I'm jealous and angry. I haven't felt this way since, since-
"Hey, are you alright Noseband?" Uruha asked, leaning down into the window.
"I'm fine. Don't call me that."
"Only if you stop calling me Ducky." he replied with a smile. I looked up at him. His soft golden eyes and pretty lips forming that cheery smile, I couldn't help but feel a little better.
"Okay, I'll stop calling you Ducky."
"So tell me Reita, what's on your mind? What's got you all upset?" he asked.
"My paranoia." I replied with a smile. He slapped my head.
"I'm serious."
"Me too."
He sighted. "Get out of that damned car and talk to me." he said. "Don't make me pull you out myself."
He stepped back and I got out of the car. "I just think...I'm crazy."
He laughed. "Aren't we all? But for real, tell me what's bothering you?"
"The same thing that's been bothering me for the past three years."
"Oh that's bothering you agian huh? I told you before, you have nothing to worry about. Ruki loves you. That little chibi adores you more than anything. He'd never hurt you like that."
"Then why does he spend so much time away from me? Haven't you seen the way he looks at Nao?"
"Do you honestly think Naoshi looks at Ruki that way? He's happy with Hiroto. They're getting married in the Spring, Nao and Hiroto are in love. Just like you and Ruki."
"I know that but still! It's hard for me not to get a little jealous. Ruki is always with Nao. He jumps at every word Nao says! He didn't even want to ride with us here because he'd rather be with Nao."
"They're just friends. And it's just a phase. You and Ruki will get over this. Me and Etsu went through the same thing."
"You did?"
"Yeah, but I told her the truth and she understands. Rember what I told you three years ago? You'll always be my Panda. Now let's get back before they think we ran off and eloped." he said with a laugh. I was happy he came out to talk to me. him and Miyko are the only ones who know about my "problem" with Ruki.
We got back to the entrance and Miyoko was standing there. "Is Reita having some problem?" she asked that question more to me than Uruha.
"Yeah..."
"It's not my fault. Ruki just seems to like spending time with Nao more than me."
"Reita, you know Takanori loves you. If he didn't, he wouldn't still be with you, would he?" Miyoko asked.
"He has no where else to go."
"Not true. Any of us would take him in. If he wanted Nao as badly as you think. you know he'd go stay with him and Hiroto. They've even offered yet he refused because he loves you." Uruha said.
"I guess you guys are right...Let's just forget about this okay? We've got an entire evening to enjoy. I don't want to ruin it with my craziness."
"You're not crazy. Now let's go eat." Miyoko said. I held the door open for them and we went back to our tables.
"Where'd you guys go?" Kai asked.
"I needed some fresh air. Uruha and Miyoko came to get me, I was taking too long I guess." I covered.
"You're damn right. Now, dessert is on it's way to the table and we ordered for you guys." Aoi said. After we had a nice dessert, we were all nice and fully. We sat in our cars in the parking lot for a minute before heading to the movies. There was going to be a remastered version of some movie with David Bowie from the 80's that the girls (including Uruha and Kohara) wanted to go see.
"Oh my god! We're seeing Labyrinth! I love this movie so much!" Miyoko shrieked.
"I know! David Bowie was incredible in this movie!" Kohara added.
"I know every song!" Etsu bragged.
"Me too!" the other girls, including Uruha and Kohara chimed.
Then they started singing some weird song about dancing magic or something and babies. It was quite weird. We paid for our tickets and went into the theater. About ten minutes into the movies, Aoi became disinterested. Kai was lost in Kohara's rambling about the movie. He always thought it was cute when Kohara rambled. Miyoko and Etsu fangirled over David Bowie. I didn't see what was so special about him.
"We're gonna go get something to drink." Ruki whispered.
"We?"
"Yes, me and Nao. Want anything?" he asked. Yeah, you to stop following him like a lost puppy...
"No thank you." They left to get their precious drinks. I tried to focus on the movie. It wasn't really that bad. Even if the girls sang along to the stupid songs. I kept glancing at my watch. It doesn't take 10minutes to get get a soda.
"I'll be right back. I'm gonna go see what's taking so long."
"I'm coming too. Anything to get away from this God awful movie." Hiroto said.
"Same here." Uruha said. We looked at Aoi, his eyes were glued to the screen. Hiroto, Uruha and I left the theater and went to the concession stand. No one was there. Hiroto asked the cashier if she saw either of our boyfriends. She described them perfectly. "That's them all right."
"Well they were here, but they paid for their drinks and left. They went that way." she pointed to the right down a hall with other theaters. "Maybe they went to the bathroom. Anyway, I hope you find them."
"Thank you miss." I said. We walked to the bathrooms and opened the door. There were two small sodas on the sink. They must have at least been hear. "I guess they aren't-" Uruha shushed me. I heard a familiar noise. Hiroto walked over to where said noise was coming from and kicked a stall in. He stepped back, covered his mouth. The noise stopped.
"It's over." he took of his engagement ring and threw it on the floor. "I trusted both of you. You want him so bad, he's yours. I'm leaving."
"Hiroto wait, i-"
"Save it Nao. I'm done. Reita, I'm sorry...Nao, you can find yourself a ride home." Uruha rubbed Hiroto's back and walked him out.
I walked over to the stall and saw something absolutely horrible. "How long Ruki?" I asked, not even looking at him.
"Akira..."
"How long?! Were you just planning on keeping it a secret?"
"I was going to tell you but-"
"Fuck you! I can't believe I fell for your crap. This whole time I thought I was just paranoid, but apparently I was right. Why is it that everyone I fall in love with fuck me over?!" I looked down at Ruki and Nao, pants around their ankles, bodies pressed against each others. "I opened my home to you! My parents loved you, treated you like their own! And you betray us like that? I came out to my father for you and when he finally accepts me for me, you fuck it up!"
"Reita, let's just go." Uruha said, walking up behind me, pulling on my arm. I walked out of the bathroom with Uruha. We walked back into the theater. Hiroto was telling the others goodbye, giving hugs. He hugged me.
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry." he whispered.
"Me too. I hope this doesn't mean you'll leave our lives too."
"No, you guys grew on me. I love you kids. I just...I wish things didn't end up like they did for me." he said, then left. I sat down beside Etsu and Uruha.
"What happened?" she asked.
"What I knew was happening the whole time." I replied. She understood what I meant. It seems everyone knew I was thinking about Ruki leaving me for Nao. Etsu hugged me.
"It'll be alright Reita."
"No, it wont be." Nao and Ruki sat together, two rows down. I glared at them the whole time. When the movies was over, I went right to the car.
"Aki-"
"Shut the hell up. I don't want you to say a word to me."
"I'm going to go say good bye to the other-"
"Fine. hurry the hell up then get your ass in the car."
"Reita, we're gonna take Nao home, okay?" Uruha said.
"Fine by me." I said.
Aoi and Miyoko got in the back. Ruki sat up front. I dropped Aoi off at home then Miyoko. When me and Ruki got to my place, I called the others to let them know I got in safely, without harming Ruki. Mom and dad already went to bed. I went to the bathroom and called Hiroto.
"Hey Reita."
"Did you make it to Takeshi's?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'll go back for my things when Nao is at work. What about Ruki?"
"I can't kick him out yet. I'll just have to deal with this. But he's sleeping on the couch form now on. Well, I just wanted to make sure you were somewhere safe. Goodnight."
"Goodnight." he hung up. I went into my bedroom and got undressed. Ruki was changing into his pajama's. He crawled into bed.
"No, I don't think so. You can take the couch. You know where the blankets and pillows are. Goodnight."
"Akir-"
"I said goodnight." I crawled under the blankets and turned my back to him. I felt the tears streaming down my face. How could he betray me like this? He promised he wouldn't hurt me. He used me. I built him up and he decided to love someone else. And he's been keeping it a secret for God knows how long. Well I'm not going to let him off. He's got to go. I don't care where he goes, but he's leaving my house.
I bet Nao will take him in...
