The last time we left off with the Barnsworths, Hunter had died and Bailey had at last become a young adult… and had met someone who made her heart pound.

Skip Broke… who should have been dating Brandi Newbie (except that Brandi Newbie never existed in this reality) … seemed like a good boyfriend for Bailey. They had a lot in common, as both were Daredevils, and Skip was flirty and friendly.
They spent a lot of time together, mostly at Bailey’s house or at the movies. Skip didn’t seem to mind that Bailey’s brothers were always around or that she still lived with her mother. In fact, he admitted that he lived in a trailer on his father’s property and that all his family lived there, too.
Abbey, however, soon wondered about Skip’s intentions toward her daughter. It seemed to her that Bailey never went to his house or met his family. Was he ashamed of her little girl? Was he just using her?
Whenever Abbey tried to talk to Bailey about it, Bailey shut her off. She was in love, couldn’t her mother see that?
But her mother’s words had gotten Bailey to thinking about her relationship with Skip and doubts formed in the back of her mind. Why was it that she never went to Skip’s house. Why had she never met his dad or the rest of his family?
Bailey decided to pay Skip a visit on her own, and after looking his address up in the phone book, she grabbed her bike a drove across town to the Broke’s homestead. Which was, as Skip had once told her in passing a trailer park.
She did not know which one was Skip’s so she walked up to the first trailer and knocked on the door. A gray-haired gentleman who looked an awful lot like Skip opened the door.
“Sumthin’ I can do for you, little lady?” he asked, looking her over in a way that made Bailey feel nervous. Why was she doing this, again?
“I-I-I’m looking for Skip Broke?” she stammered under his gaze.
The man’s eyes narrowed a bit. “You pregnant?”
“NO!” Bailey exclaimed, and felt heat rise in her cheeks. “No, no…. nothing like that! We’re friends is all…” she found herself saying even though she tended to think of Skip as more than just a friend.
The man stepped aside. “C’mon in, then. Skip should be home from work any minute now.”
Bailey hesitated on the doorstep. She didn’t know this guy… was he Skip’s father or uncle or some total stranger?
“Well?” the man demanded, and finally she went inside.
The trailer was small and cramped, but she could see pictures on the wall and deduced that this was, indeed, Skip’s father.
His sister - whom Bailey had met around town before - was there as well and she waved Bailey over to watch TV with her.
“Here to see my brother?” she asked. Bailey nodded. “He’ll be here shortly.”
And true to their word, Skip did return shortly.
“Oh, hi, Bailey,” he said when he saw her sitting there.
Bailey did not know what to expect, but she did not think he would look so… annoyed… to see her. She was hoping for a hug or a kiss or something but instead he turned to his sister and asked what was for dinner.
“Leftover, or I can order pizza. I thought you and Bailey might be going out tonight.”
Skip looked annoyed again and shook his head. “I just got home. I’m not going out again.”
“Pizza it is.”
Skip went to change his clothes and left Bailey standing there looking - and feeling - like an idiot. Finally he walked outside and she followed him… only to be blown off when he went over to one of the other two trailers and totally ignored her.
She sat down on the steps, feeling like she might cry.
About that time, Skip came out of the trailer and sat down beside her. “Look,” he said. “Can I see you some time this week? I’m glad to see you and all” he didn’t seem it “but I just got off work and I’m beat. I just want to eat and go to bed. Call me in a couple of days, when I’m off work, okay?”
And thus, Bailey was dismissed. She went home… and tried her best to tell herself that she just caught Skip at a bad time.
But she soon began to notice that it was always a ‘bad time’ for Skip. She would call and invite him over and one of two things would happen… he would say no/he was busy OR he would
accept only to call back and
decline after she had started getting ready.
Finally, Bailey had had enough of the run around. The next time she saw Skip Broke, she walked over to him, determined to tell him how she felt.
“Hey, babe,” he said when she saw her in the gym. “How’s it…”
“Don’t ‘hey babe’ me, Skip… and before you finish asking, it *isn’t* going,’ she told him.
Skip frowned and gave her a ‘what’d I do?’ look. “What’s up with you? You look tense. Want me to give you a massage?”
“No, Skip… I don’t want a massage. In fact, I don’t think I want anything from you.” Bailey told him that she was tired of him and his mixed signals. It was okay for him if they made out in the back of the movie theater or on her couch but been seen anywhere in public with her? Or treat her like a girlfriend? No.
“I think we should just be friends, Skip.”
Simmer’s Note: Again, I apologize for the lack of pictures. I’m moving towards the place where I have more pictures again. Bear with me, people. *g* I do hope the story was good this time. It happened pretty much like that in the game and I had some awesome pictures of Bailey breaking up with Skip and Skip acting indignant but those were lost.
And now, to make up for the lack of pictures… here’s what the house looks like during this ‘era’ of the Barnsworths lives.
