OOC: Teh Trip

Dec 29, 2008 01:18

Sooooo, rather than catch you guys in AIM, I figure I'll post this so you can comment when you get the time.

Bark is going with Knuckles and Blaze to the Aurora Icefield to see his parents, sort of, and find out what happened to his friend, Sickle, after he pounded the pulp out of him.

Quick recap: Bark was groomed to be a street fighter, and the last time he fought, it was against his best friend. Bark went a little berserk and beat him a little too harshly. His friend got rushed to the Icefield's version of an E.R., everybody became afraid of him/mad at him, and Bark's dad didn't care about any of it because he'd won tons of money from Bark's victory. So, Bark took off.

There were a few parts I wanted to narrate myself or log but can't because I don't control your characters, so that's what this post is for. I'd like to know what your characters would do/how they would react in each situation. Maybe we can do some sort of Narrative log tags or something, I dunno.

Anyway, "stops" along the way--

1. Sleeping arrangements. Bark would've camped the whole way there, but since he has company, I figure Knux would've insisted they stay in inns. For the record, they took a cab to the inn in Station Square, where they took a train to the Rusty Ruins. From there, they had to walk/use their Extreme Gear and cross the Diamond Dust Zone to the Aurora Icefield, mainly because the Icefield is a desolate wasteland with no forms of public transportation.

Basic Itinerary, also for the record:

Day 1: Inn, pick a zone that they stayed in that would have an airport. Casino Night? Bingo Highway? Station Square?
Day 2: Inn, another zone, possibly only housing a landing strip for a small aircraft train station, on the edge of the Icefield. Mystic Ruins? Rusty Ruins, adjacent to the Mystic Ruins and its train station, and the Diamond Dust Zone, the closest zone to the Icefield.
Day 3: Either camping right outside the village or sleeping on the floor of one of Bark's more open-minded and compassionate neighbors.
Day 4: Same as day 2.
Day 5: Same as day 1.
Day 6: Also same as day 1 because as a thanks, Bark took both Knux and Blaze to an attraction they both might like (carnival, casino, theme park, just a day exploring the town, or maybe a monument or some other sort of touristy attraction?)
Day 7: Home.

Anyway, what would their sleeping arrangements be? I figure they'd just go with Bark and Knux rooming together in a two-bed room and let Blaze have her own. Since the inns I've been to typically have two beds whether you want them or not, if Blaze caves and wants Bark to sleep in her room in the spare bed, that could work, too. Whatever you guys want. We can log the discussion, too, if you want. I'm game for anything.

2. Arriving/First Impressions. As they walk through the village streets, any onlookers will typically recognize Bark and avoid him. Some will shoot him disgruntled glances. To put Knux's presence to good use, I figure some of the street fighters Bark went up against might run into him and pick a fight because he up and left like a ninny after beating up his friend. I'd really like to log it, but we can stick with a "they all fought and our trio won" summary.

What I need from you are Knux and Blaze's first impressions of the village. It's a small thing, a handful of buildings all bunched up and forming fake "streets." The buildings are primitive and resemble bamboo huts, only made out of large ice blocks with round, igloo roofs. No trees or decorations aside from a sign or something. It is really one boring-ass town with a lake/ice hole a few hundred yards away.

3. Bark's parents. Bark is going to stop by his old house and discover that it's empty. His neighbors will cautiously tell him his mother is being taken care of by so-and-so because she's been stricken with what is essentially Alzheimer's and can't care for herself. They'll explain to him that when she started acting odd, his father sort of up and left the town and let her fend for herself.

Bark will go to her and try to make amends, but she won't recognize him at all. He'll talk with her a while in private, and he'll come out afterward and tell Knux and Blaze as much, though she still remembers she has a son. She just thinks he's still 3 years old and doesn't believe him when he tells her who he his. This makes him obviously really upset, though he tries to hide it.

Let me know what Knux and Blaze would do/say to console him, assuming they would. If one wants to say something immediately while the other says something later when they're in private, that's fine, or they can both do it immediately. Bark will pretty much be like, "*explains his chat with his mom* I never should have left her. Now I won't get to say goodbye to her before she dies because she doesn't recognize me. ... *says nothing, changes the subject* Anyway, let's see if we can find out what happened to Sickle." Cue reactions.

4. Heading back. I doubt anything eventful will happen, but if you guys have any suggestions, I'm open to them, since I'm practically taking this event by the horns here. Also let me know if you have any suggestions of things they could do at any point before they leave.
I know it's a lot of junk to figure out, but I'd appreciate your opinions all the same, guys. Thanks ahead of time. <3 I promise this is the last time Bark will drag them into something so complicated, lol.  If you need one of my characters for epic plottage sometime, I'm there!  And as always, I'm totally fine with backdating, especially with logs.

Mods, let me know if I'm stepping on any toes.   I figure stuff like this is okay since it all takes place out of FDC and only affects three characters.  Nobody's picking up any Chaos Emeralds or anything like that, either, so I'm assuming this is A-okay.
