HELGA!!!
So we've been playing the Warhammer Online open beta since last Sunday and I must say I'm impressed.
So much that most of our crew have made the jump from EverQuest 2 over to Warhammer Online. EQ2 will be put down for a nap & we'll return to it at a later date.
Warhammer has a very different pace than most of the mmo's I've played thus far. It's got a higher tempo to it, a greater momentum that gives it a different air of excitement. It's war after all, it's everywhere & there is always things going on that are really easy to get involved in.
There are a few things that really stand out. Basic quests are relatively the same as they are in every mmo. The pvp, or rvr (realm vs. realm) as they prefer to call it, is handled very well and a lot of fun. But it's the public quests that I find to be amazing. You just waltz into an area & suddenly you find yourself in the middle of some grand scripted multi-scene event that is happening, you can just jump right in, group or no group, or hop into an existing group with the click of a button & get involved in the action. And there are so many rewards in the game that motivate you to get involved in more than mob/quest grinding. Quest rewards, discovery rewards, all sorts of various unlocks from the Tome of Knowledge, story awards, renown (from rvr) rewards, public quest rewards & status rewards you get from doing them.
It's really a lot of fun.
And another reason I love it. The dwarves are hawt! There has only been two mmorpg's to date that I have felt that dwarves were portrayed well & actually looked like proper dwarves: Lord of the Rings Online & now Warhammer Online. The Chosen are hot too. :p
Our Order characters are on the Heldenhammer server.
Our Destruction characters are on the Gorfang server.
As Order I'm most likely on as Gamhuin, Faa or Beja.
As Destruction I'm most likely on as Wolf, Gir or Ravenwave.
For Karaz-a-Karak!
Meet Gamhuin.
Meet Gamhuin's rifle. :p
