Everyone has one - a theory, that is. As the anticipation and excitement build for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," which hits bookstores later this week, the body counts keep rising, at least predictions-wise.
We've been trying to keep track for a while - talking to fans (see "Harry Potter Fans Battle Over Theories At School-Sanctioned Sleepover") and experts (see " 'Harry Potter' Roundtable: Experts Battle Over Theories On How Series Will End") - but since we haven't yet found a theory that satisfies everyone, we decided to ask a few more folks how they think it will all turn out. And some of these guys know this material better than anyone.
Jonah Hill ("Superbad" star): "I've already read it. Twice. He dies. Harry gets convicted of a sex crime, and then he gets killed in jail."
Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley): "I'm really keen to see what happens with all the rumors, who's going to live, who's going to die. I've heard a lot of people say Harry's likely to die."
Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter): "Really? I was just told recently people are placing bets on whether Harry lives or dies. That's hilarious. That's sick. [He laughs.] The public must really love me. I don't want him dead as a character, but I don't know. Because I'm not writing these novels, I can't imagine any other way they can be concluded, when you consider the prophecy that was made about him and Voldemort and things like that. One of them's got to go."
Keke Palmer ("Akeelah and the Bee" star): "Stephen King told J.K. Rowling that if you kill the main character, everyone will be mad at you, so you gotta kill one of the main characters, but not the main main character."
Emma Watson (Hermione Granger): "I'm sort of praying Hermione is going to make it. I don't know why, but I think she is going to make it."
Grint: "Ron can die. I'd like a death scene. It'd be quite cool, if it was a really cool battle. If he dies to save the world."
Palmer: "Evil can't win, because if evil overcomes, then everyone will just feel bad. But if Harry dies, he should die after he kills Lord Voldemort, like if something happens, like he gets stabbed, then he stabs Lord Voldemort, and then he dies. That'd be peaceful."
Radcliffe: "One of my theories is stolen from someone else. He thought Snape is going to turn out to be the tragic hero, and I thought that was a really good idea. I think J.K. Rowling would have possibly gone down that route - but possibly he is pure evil, and we'll all just find out."
Grint: "I think Snape's pretty bad. I'd say he's evil. It would make sense if he's evil."
Watson: "I think Snape is good. I think Snape had to kill Dumbledore to win Voldemort's trust, and initially that will be his downfall."
Alan Rickman (Professor Snape): "I don't go there. Nope."
Imelda Staunton (Professor Umbridge): "Umbridge is mentioned in book six, so she could be back in book seven, but you wouldn't really want her back, would you really? Maybe we'll see her walking a few corridors."
Amanda Bynes ("Hairspray" star): "I hope J.K. Rowling finds a way to extend it so it can continue on and it never actually ends. How about that? Like Harry Potter in his 30s. You know what I mean? Like married life."
Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley): "At the end of six, Harry and I can't be together because of Voldemort, because he could find out. It'll be interesting to see if that does hold."
Grint: "It's sort of been suggested through all of them that Ron and Hermione will get together. Everyone keeps saying something will happen in the seventh between them. I wouldn't be surprised. It's bound to happen, really."
Watson: "I hope Ron and Hermione get together in the end. They'd be a good couple. And I'd like to see Hermione protesting somewhere, doing something for house elves. And Neville Longbottom teaching Herbology! And Draco redeems himself! I think that would be cool."
Radcliffe: "You know what? J.K. Rowling's got a much better grip on these stories than anyone else in the world, so my only prediction is that she's going to come up with something no one else could have predicted."
Michael Cera ("Superbad" star): "Harry catches pneumonia. And then you think he's going to be fine, like, 'Just go rest for a week.' But then he dies."
James Marsden ("Hairspray" star): "I think they should just cut to a black screen like they did on 'The Sopranos' and just fake everybody out."
Queen Latifah: "We could let him die, but he's a wizard, so let him come back. You know, if Voldemort could bring his ass back, then damn it, let Harry bring his self back. How about this ending? Don't end!"
Adam Sandler: "I'd say it ends like this - Potter hits a home run. Is there baseball in it?"
