Sri Lanka (Ayubuowan!)

That's means hello in singhalese, apparently now i have to learn how to speak singhalese as well.. nice... i'm a medic and a linguist. I have somehow covertedly snuck onto one of the computers here at the holiday inn in Sri, because i told the receptionist ladies at the front desk, that i'm a medic here to help out there people. This is all true of course, the ladies find it very heroic and noble like. In fact, most sri lankans are so extremely kind to us right now, they offer up their room service and everything else for free, i just finished having cake with the hotel manager.

Even the taxi guys outside, they are called tuk-tuks, offer us free rides anywhere we'd like to go. Right now i'm luckily staying at the holiday inn in Colombo, which was not hit by the tsunami. We will be moving in two days to the devastated areas such as gaal and what not. We will be extremely busy, and i won't have computer access, plus the aol on this computer is not cooperating, which is why i went to livejournal. I walked over to the american embassy twice today, and they are so busy with journalists and everything that they couldn't let me and my friend in.

We travel out here using the buddy system cause there's been a lot of murders, and looting, plus kidnappings in the past days. I have an m-16 knife i carry with me everywhere, plus i'm a medic, actually the only one here taking care of 35 marines, 10 officers, and myself of course. How touche. I'm part of the first wave, and we've been photographed on the news coming on the c-5 (airforce jet), and my picture and story along with the other marines here will be in newspapers all around the world. There is so much sadness here, kinda like a gigantic fog covering the city, blinding you as you walk along. I feel so bad for all the homeless and poor people walking around barefoot, and sleeping on the streets, and just their way of life.

They have their military walking around with ak-47's and pistols in hand, not even in the holster, cause of the terrorist organization: the tamil tigers, recent attacks. I value my knife is all i have to say for that. I brought one disposable camera so when i get to gaal and the other areas i will begin my photographs, plus i'll try to bring back some sri lankan gear and what not. About 1 in ever 5 sri's have malaria and all sorts of diseases so we all have to be very careful. All i can say is that i'm gonna be really busy curing the injured, picking up the unfortunate people who died, giving shots, and reconstructing for a minute. Not to mention dodging the tamils whom we have gotten word today do not like the fact that we are helping out the sri lankan population, so perhaps dodging the land mines, and some bullets as well, very nice.. That's all for now

I think the photographs later on will speak for themselves. Peace out, wen if you read this tell mom i'm ok, dave hold the fort down for me back home. Sab stay shoeless as always, and Jose if you ever learn about livejournal don't say i didn't write nothing, lol, j/k. Andy i hope your doing alright back home, or wherever life has you now. later folks...
