so.. it's my 5th day in london today.
and every single day of it had been fun!
ok let's see, on Sat when we arrived, we came straight to Karl's place (such a nice friend of cc who lets us sleep in the guest room and basically just treat his place like our place!). he has a really really nice home! it's victorian like on the outside (which he is planning to re-paint it) and the interior is simply warm and cosy! apparently he took 9 months to re-model the place and now it's so warm and homely, me and cc definitely had no problems treating it like our own place. in fact, we wished that it was our place! hahahahhaa....
oh and Karl's friend Andrew (who is a singaporean working in london) came over and we all sat in the kitchen and had drinks and were chatting till.. the wee hours. at this point, it was probably about noon time in SG and I had not slept yet and Andrew got a little drunk. so we all called it a night and i just fell flat on the bed till 11am the next day.
day 2: it's a Sunday and Karl made us breakfast! coffee, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and warm bread... pure bliss. and he drove us to Notting Hill/Portabello market where we went into vintage shops (cc's fav. you could smell the shops even before you went in. -_-) got a few knick knacks from the weekend market and went back early cos the sky was turning dark. went to a thai restaurant for dinner and the food was great! tastes like authentic thai food..yums!
day 3: monday! as usual, we woke at about 11am and took our own time getting ready to go out. (it's a holiday, there's no rush and it's shiok to take our own sweet time doing eveything!). we went to Sloane Square and started our real shopping! there's still some sale going on in the shops and we managed to get a few good buys. but we spent the most at Boots. i mean, all the toiletries and cosmetics seemed to be calling out to us. we were there for almost an hour! and pondering which moisturizers, wrinkle fillers etc were good buys. see, that's women for you.
and we came home and i guess we were all feeling lazy, Karl volunteered to cook pasta for us. he's quite a good cook too!
day 4: on this cold tuesday morning, cc and i went to Harrods. we had lunch there and a bottle of coke costs 4 pounds. thus, we did what we should do...we shared a bottle of coke among us. hahaha... but we still had a good meal! baby chicken and duck.. after awhile, it was meat overload. but still, it was a good meal and that meal got us through almost a whole day of shopping.
after which we came back home in the evening and went to the supermarket with Karl to get some stuff and me and cc cooked for him and his friend Andrew! and it's only me and cc cooking and we amazed at our success. we cooked rice (no rice-cooker ok, it was cooked in a pot!), stir friend spinach in oyster sauce, ABC soup and ta-da! Pork ribs in black bean sauce! and they all taste really good! considering that we took prob about 45 mins to come up with that meal... and... i can cook! hahhahaaa.... it's kind of like a revelation i guess. i always think that i can't cook. but i think london did me good lah. 4 years of home economics class has not gone to waste! muahhahahhaa....
day 5: here i am typing on LJ. i woke up early and washed the dished from last night. the pots and pans are really heavy man. my arms are aching a bit. but now cc's preparing her cereal breakfast and i think it's time i got changed and made up and start another round of shopping! we're gg to Westfield today! it's not in our original plans coz we wanted to go to the factory outlet. but it is like 2 hours away and to wake us up at 8am is an impossible feat. so... Westfield... here we come!! :))))
laters!
