ENSMB needs a place to record!

Jan 30, 2009 15:04

there are some unfortunate personnel changes in ENSMB in the coming months and we very much want to record a studio album before this happens. We've got a top notch engineer that loves our band, so that is the first big hurdle we've overcome. now the big issue is location, which is why i come to y'all in the hopes you might have some suggestions.

what we need is:
-a big room that can comfortably fit our band and gear. while an acoustically nice room is good, it is not essential due to how we will be recording. think dens, basements, large attics, (heated) garages, barns, warehouses, function rooms, church halls, theaters, etc.
-we need unfettered (or close to) access to it for about 48 hours. ideally we would come in on a Friday and set up everything (a 3-4 hour process), maybe get some recording done, then return sat. and sun. to record throughout the day and into the evening. we may need a 2nd weekend too, but let's plan for one to start off.
-noise needs to be tolerable, because, well, we're loud.
-outside noise needs to be negligible. nothing that is near major highways, trains or construction.
-preferably within an hour of metro boston
-free or super super cheap. our budget is almost nonexistent for this, and what money we do have needs to pay our talented engineer and fund the actual manufacture of CDs. we are more than willing to barter for this with free CDs, t-shirts, entry to shows, etc. we will entertain suggestions.

as you can see, this is a pretty tall order. if money were no object, this would not be a problem and we could rent out a place for the weekend. however, the cost of that is nearly astronomical, so it's my hope that through our massive network of interlocking communities someone somewhere out there has a space that works that they will be gracious enough to let us use.

please help us by spreading the word on this, and letting us know about anything you think fits the bill

thanks!

ensmb, call for help
