i'm writing this mostly for the non-uconn folks.

a week ago, mr. sacco, the orchestra director, suffered a brain anurism and entered the hospital. he had just biked a marathon. healthy guy, married, three daughters. this year the orchestra at school is the biggest and strongest it has ever been, and he was looking forward to finally having the resources he wanted. he was brilliant, and a great guy. he was hospitalized in a coma on life support. today, he was taken off life support. some of my friends and i went to the hospital last night to say our goodbyes, and it was the hardest thing i have ever done.

please keep his family in your thoughts, and tell everyone you love how much you appreciate them. i've never lost anyone that i was close to, and this is a scary feeling. i only had string tech with him, and feel fortunate to have had just that. he has touched so many lives. tomorrow is not guaranteed, and it's easy to forget that.
