I am sitting here watching Mel Brooks' A History of the World part I, and its much much less entertaining than I expected. sigh. So instead I am looking up other movies!
Yes its another one of those updates. This is mostly for me though, as it contains movies that have already been released as well as some up-and-comers (that's what she said).
Sunshine Cleaning
Amy Adams, produced by the people who did Little Miss Sunshine. It's about a woman and her sister who dabble in cleaning up crime scenes. I like little miss sunshine and i like amy adams. we'll see.
Shutter Island
Leonardo DiCaprio, whom i no longer hate thanks to the departed. thriller about crazy convicts living in an institution on a crazy looking island. It looks damn awesome, but i read a comment that may have ruined the twist ending, and i'm a little upset by that.
Where the Wild Things Are
Where the Wild Things Are! Arcade Fire! Spike Jonze! Where the Wild Things Are!
A Serious Man
The Coen Brothers might be the only moviemakers I will get excited about based on name alone. I'm not so sure about the movie itself, but I did like how the trailer was set to a rhythm.
Extract
Another Mike Judge film. Plus it has Jason Bateman and Kristen Wiig. But it also has Ben Affleck...seriously how is his younger brother so much better than he is?
Funny People
Ah, there's another one. Judd Apatow. Although I still don't know how I feel about this movie based on the trailers and bits I've seen. Plus right now it only has 64% on rotten tomatoes. Oh shit RZA!
The Invention of Lying
In a world where lies, even small white ones, do not exist, one man discovers the lie and everyone believes every little thing that happens. Simple conceit, but the trailer is pretty funny. It could still suck though. But Ricky Gervais, Jonah Hill, Tina Fey, Jeffrey Tambor, and (sigh) Jennifer Garner.
I Sell the Dead
A Graverobber confesses to a priest shortly before he is executed. And its full of undead stories! Plus, Charlie from Lost!
The Hurt Locker
I've heard this referred to as the best war movie of the year. It looks fantastic.
Holmes
Robert Downey Jr. as a badass sherlock holmes? That's badass.
Tron 2
Looks Neat, plus Jeff Bridges. Although I've never seen the first one.
Tron
I figure I should see that first. Plus Jeff Bridges!
Avatar
This better be awesome.
And of course District 9, Inglourious Basterds, 9, Alice in Wonderland
Oh, and if you haven't yet, go see Moon. Fantastic movie that will blow your mind. Seriously ask anyone. Once you're done with that, see Sunshine, because it is just that great.
