Today the governor of our fair state has declared that there will be a prayer vigil on the steps of the capitol building to pray for rain.
You know, because pursuing policy change with regard to water use would be fruitless.

I thought praying for rain was something the native americans did before we understood how rain is made...or was that just a dance?

(Serious Reply:) I'm pretty sure the dancing was a form of prayer.
(Sarcastically Funny Reply:) Oh, any god will do in a pinch. The important thing is for our government officials to look like they're doing something.

They have done a lot of stuff, but as I understand it, they've done just as much stupid stuff as good.
For instance- they tried to fine Turner Field for watering their field. Turner Field has a cistern under the field for this very purpose. They do not draw on municipal water for that. You would think the municipal water people would know this.
For the first summer months they were letting big companies water whenever they wanted. (Not that it wasn't banned- it was. They just looked the other way.) Now (probably due mostly to public outcry) they have started cracking down on those companies.
Really, it's ridiculous. Michael and I drove over Buford Dam this weekend on our way to his parents house. They were letting water out of the dam. More water than Michael says he's ever seen them let out at once. The river was HIGH. Like, nearly flooding the banks high.

Don't call the police- call the water dept.
And if they (the complex) recycle their water then it isn't against the law.

Yeah, but if they have a specific place for carwashing, then usually it has a drain (or did the apts we lived in) and the water into the drain may be recycled (into plant water or who knows what).
But, yeah. I had to report our neighbors three weeks in a row before they stopped watering on days they shouldn't have been (this was back in the summer). I'm assuming someone came out and said something, but I don't really know. Totally retarded.
